Time to go electric!

It’s nice to make choices we can feel good about in life, and the new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is one of them.

Go green. Although electric vehicles seem like a relatively new thing, our pals at Toyota have been in the business of hybrid electric vehicles for over 25 years! By 2025, they will have launched 40 new or updated electrified vehicles across the globe as part of their drive towards a carbon neutral future. And what’s more, by 2030, they’re aiming to have an electrified option of every car model in their entire fleet. The new HEV range is all about making the transition to electric vehicles easier for kiwi families. It has two fuel sources – electricity and petrol, and it intelligently switches between the two, with no loss of power while also using less fuel and generating less emissions to travel the same distance. Hybrids use around a third less fuel than a similar petrol-only vehicle, and the vehicle self-charges, so no need to have electric charging set up at home or earmarked on your maps. Hurrah!

Sleek and sporty. With a stylish two-tone sporty exterior design, the interior also sets the XSE grade apart, with practical black synthetic leather seats, and front adjustable seats that are heated (essential for those chilly mornings off to sports or swimming lessons!) and have sports-style bolstering. In the back with the kids there’s room for the ISOFIX car seats, plenty of room in the boot for the stroller and weekly grocery shop, or adjust a back seat or all down to fit the surfboard or supplies for your weekend DIY project.

All the bells and whistles. Convenience and connectivity combine with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, giving you a truly customisable driving experience. Connect your smartphone to the multimedia display to make calls, choose music, and navigate using your favourite apps – an absolute necessity for long road trips with little ones in tow.

Family-friendly. The RAV4 range is equipped with Toyota’s advanced Safety Sense technologies, designed to help prevent or mitigate collisions across a wide range of traffic conditions. With a 2019 five-star ANCAP safety rating, you can rest assured your family is in the safest hands possible.

OHbaby! managing director Angela took one for a spin! Here’s what she thought... “One thing that really struck me about this vehicle was how quiet it was! So good for some reflective time alone in the car after school drop off, or when I had the kids with me, it was great to be able to properly talk. Also, I expected for there to be reduced horse-power considering it was electric but it was powerful and I didn’t have to chop and change between electric or petrol it just did it automatically, I didn’t even know when it switched! Over the course of a week I only used one third of a tank of petrol (and trust me, I am basically a taxi service these days with my kids and all their different sports practices and appointments). My next vehicle is definitely going to be electrified after this experience!"

The Toyota Driveaway price includes all on road costs: WOF, registration, a full tank of fuel, the Toyota Care Service Advantage fixed price servicing package, floor mats, and a three year or 100,000 km warranty.
