Tips for filling your toddlers 'love tank'

Ensuring your little one heads off to childcare with a 'full connection tank' and then refilling it once home, can do the world of good for everyone...
PHYSICAL CONNECTION
Snuggles, hugs and closeness before and after school can really fill your child’s cup. Whether it’s cuddles in bed in the morning or a nice long hug at drop off, physical closeness is a key component of a secure attachment.
WORDS OF AFFIRMATION
Sayings like “I’m so proud of you”, “I love spending time with you”, or “I really missed you today” are all great examples of phrases you can say to your child regularly to let them know how loved they are by you.
QUALITY TIME
It can be tricky to dedicate regular one-on-one time to your child during busy seasons, especially if you have multiple children, but it really will do the world of good to your child’s overall behaviour and emotional regulation. Just 15 minutes a day of quality attention with no phones or distractions, doing something they love, is amazing.
ASK QUESTIONS
Be curious about your child’s interests. Ask them what they’re looking forward to that day, or what their favourite part of the day was.
DAILY RITUALS
Special rituals with your children can create happy memories and better connection. It can be something like a unique handshake and hug at drop off, or the same sequence of events before bedtime (bath, books, bedtime cuddles).
