Visit your local pool
We all have great memories of lying around our local pool, ice cream melting down our fingers. Pools are a great way to cool off in the heat and keep the kids entertained for hours and most are very reasonable priced. We love the Parnell Baths in Auckland, an outdoor pool with a fantastic kids area, the Mackenzie Baths in Wellington with it’s new toddler area. And Jellie Pool in Christchurch with its hydro slides and summer pool parties.
A trip to the flicks
Movies can be expensive if you take the whole family, especially when you include movie snacks. But as a special treat it’s a nice way to spend a few hours with your kids. With BNZ you can earn Fly Buys on your MasterCard and Home Loan and these can be used to pay for the movie tickets. It gives you a bit more cash to spend at the snack counter!
The Zoo
The zoo is a great treat for all the family, make it a whole day trip, take your own sandwiches and have a plan. Indoor playgrounds
It’s always good to have something up your sleeve in case it rains. There are indoor playgrounds all around the country from inflatable areas, trampolining centres and gigantic ball pits there’s loads of indoor options for your kids to burn off some energy.
Hole in one
For kids is there anything more fun than hitting a ball around some colourful objects? Plus with 18 holes this not only takes mental and physical concentration but will take you a few hours to get around the course. Around New Zealand there are some great mini golf courses. We like Treasure Island, the pirate themed mini golf course in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Mini Golf in Rotoura is set amongst natural flora and fauna and Wal's Funland in Dunedin which not only has a lush green mini golf course but a delicious café to enjoy a celebratory meal after the 18th hole.
