S&Ss don't have to be awful and you can just think of them as preparation for labour

Another big piece of advice/encouragement I can give is that I promise, your baby WILL come out, either you will be induced or labour will start naturally, but whatever the situation I can assure you,you will NOT be pregnant forever, I know that it often feels like you will be giving elephants a run for their money...but in a months time, you will be looking at your empty tummy (and your baby in your arms ) and thinking that it seemed so long at the time, but now seems like a blur

LOL, my friend gave me an elephant on day 2 (or maybe 3) of the induction, to remind me that it wasn't going to go that long and the baby *was* going to come

Hi sjanenz just a quick update, my wee girl arrived on Wednesday the 8th at 1.30pm. Went into labour naturally on the Tuesday night. So 41 weeks and 2 days and glad she arrived as her placenta had a lot of calcification and her growth had slowed quite a bit too so she really needed to come out.

Hope things are going well and maybe your not overdue anymore. If not hang in there!

Going overdue sucks big time huh! Isla came out at 42wks (I went into natural labour only hours before I was due to be induced). I did end up having an emergenc C-Section after 32hrs of labour, but that was just cause my cervix didn't want to play ball that day. Stupid cervix
According to my dates tho, she was actually 19days over due......
To try and pass the time, I set up a 'guess the date' status on my FB and got everyone to comment on when they thought she was going to be born, so that was a fun way to pass the time, it kind of became more of a game that way and I stopped just sitting there thinking about how crap it was that I was still pregnant. My smart a*se of a brother always picked the 24th Feb as the birthdate, only cause it was the last possible day for me to have her, and well, he's just plain evil lol. Turns out, he was right!

Overdue is such a tough time. I reckon it's getting you ready for what's ahead cos you're so keen to go into labour you're looking forward to it!

I's like to agree with some others about the induction thing tho, don't let them hurry you into it if you don't want to. I have friends' who have gone over and been monitored and safely delivered their babies. My sil had her 2 last girls at 21 days over and 16 days over. The EDD is an estimate.

At about 7 days over your mw will book you in for a scan and they'll have a look at baby's growth, how the placenta is functioning and how much fluid is around bubs. Based on that you'll get some advice about induction.

Your mw can also do an internal exam to see if your cervix is starting to efface. If it is you can have a stretch and sweep and that shouldn't hurt if cervix is favourable, but if cervix is hard then it will bloody hurt if she does it.

I was really against having an induction unless required and would have gone over so i just tried to focus on the next thing, like the scan, the s&s etc.

But yep it sucks waking up every morning and going 'well another day and still intact'. Everyone survives it tho one way or another. Most people do go over and also do go into labour before induction.

FX baby comes soon for you, hope it's not too humid wherever you are!
