Bowie...try doing it all at the same time That would be funny...and would certainly take your mind off waiting as you are misxing your pineapple into your curry whilst swinging down stairs twiddling your nipples

Good luck!
I hope it happens naturally, because inductions can be, well, not great. I was induced for high BP and gestational diabetes. They tried for 4 days to get labour started, and nothing, no dilation at all. It was incredibly difficult to go through, and by then end of that time I was ready for the c-section. Next time I am going to fight them on it.

Just to put a postive spin on induction - I was induced for both of mine at 41+5 both times and had quite successful induction experiences! It can be done!
The second time around I didn't want to wait as long, so got my MW to agree to a monitor at a week over and a scan at 10 days over (am glad that I did this as they discovered I was low in waters and so was induced the next day)
I think that some dates and goals to work to is a great idea - that last few days/weeks sucks!!

I was kinda hoping i would be favourable cervix/dilation wise anyway, i had a giant disgusting muscos plug/show over a week ago so somethings going on up there!!
No one would judge me for going to the famers carpark, walking down the stairs the taking the lift back to the top to repeat, would they?
Briandoli, i forgot to say thanks for the link.

Haha, I made my sister take me for a drive over the back roads at 40+5, we took as many gravel roads as we could possibly find.
I had DS the next day.

Bowie, first of all
I had SPD with both of my pregnancies. I would nearly be in tears and want to SCREAM trying to get out of bed. It was a struggle. I felt like a beached whale. Haha. It was painful to do anything
With #1 i had pretty much everything you just described, except for the placenta previa. I was in SO much pain in the end because of the SPD and the swelling i had was hideous. He had been in a perfect position for months then on my due date he had turned posterior and my MW said that's probably stopping me going into labour. I remember sitting at my mums place after my appointment and feeling so down and disappointed as i just wanted him OUT. I had my show 2 days before my due date and had intense back ache after that as well as irregular contractions for days before he arrived.
My waters broke 2 days after my due date at 2am but my labour didn't progress so was induced the following morning and he was born 8pm that night. That induction was crap so i won't share that (but my next one went really well). He was quite a big baby.
Hopefully you won't have to be induced. Just remember that you COULD go into labour at any time but even if you don't you know it's only a matter of days before he'll arrive.
I think it's perfectly normal to feel really down and not so excited when you're sore, tired, frustrated and it's hard to even move. It can feel like you're going to be pregnant FOREVER. I know i felt like that with my first.
Ok sorry for the novel. lol. Just thought i'd share my experience with you and let you know i understand how you're feeling. I do think it's all pretty normal for the last days of pregnancy, especially when you're overdue. I hope he makes his appearance soon.

Nothing new to add, just wanted to send my best wishes too. Hope baby arrives soon.
DS was induction followed by emergency CS. 40+2, clinical reasons, low LQ, low fetal movements and placenta failing. I won't do an induction again, it's natural or CS, but no induction.

Thanks for everyone replies. I am feeling a bit better this morning, like Pillow_Fight said, had a massive sob fest last night and we will soldier onwards, i guess.
Will ask midwife to see me more often to put my mind at rest, and to consider giving me a day, even if it is a 12 week over day, to shuffle on towards.
Pillow_Fight, i almost had to laugh, i'm sorry, about the knickers...now i sit on the edge of the bed, put them on the floor and kind of stir them around with my foot until i miraculously get my feet through the right holes. Its ridiculous, but at least its not just me.. |
If it makes you feel better, my DH helps me put mine on each morning!!!
And with O when I was overdue I went to the mall and walked up and down the escalators in the air conditioning!!!!!

Good luck Bowie,
If you do get induced they are not always bad, I got induced at 40+2 for high BP and had my baby 2 hours after they started. Plus my OB organised for me to be induced the next day. (saw her on a Thursday afternoon and was in hospital first thing Friday).
Hopefully things start naturally though!
