'Quote from DH'

'A private kindy is just a name according to the goverment, a daycare can run as a kindy and call itself a daycare, a preschool can run as a daycare and call itself a kindy etc. There is no legislative difference between anything thats privately owned.

Day to day for a parent, If a childcare centre is not 'private', then it is a goverment run centre so to speak. They stick to the 1:15 ratio, whereas private centres are at 1:10, or 1:5 for under twos.'

TBH I'm not too well versed in the actual differences between them both as I only know this one inside out, I've not had any other experiences with centre management.

ETA: Private centres are run at a minimum of a 1:10/1:15 ratio :

The private kindy we attend has a max of 25 children and no less than 4 - 5 teachers throughout the sessions and also an office lady who is very hands-on aswell.

hey, my two boys go to a preschool (private) and they change anything from nappies to undies, and rinse the undies before putting them in a plastic bag for you to take home. everything is written down for the parents.

but i think says tht yur child can not go to preschool, kindy or anthing like that because they are not toliet trained is discrimanation (sp) do they reject children for disabilitys? every child learns at their own pace. if i was you i would go in and tell them its not fair to do this to a child, its not like they know better.

well thats my two cents anyways... good luck
