Oh what a great little thread, and I see the last few posts are from mums due very close to me too - exciting!
I'm planning a homebirth with #3, we live about 1hr 20mins from the closest birthing centre, and 3.5hrs from the closest maternity hospital!
I was induced with both my girls due to high blood pressure, so going into labour on my own will be a whole new experience
I had a wee scare with my blood pressure a few weeks ago, but it seems to have settled now, and all tests rule out PE, and show that bubba is growing very nicely in there
I must admit I'm feeling a little under prepared too, but when I think about it there isn't much to prepare!

Hi ladies,
It's been ages since I've been on here but with our baby due any day now thought I'd check in with you all.

Do we have any babies and fantastic homebirth stories yet or are you still (not so patiently) waiting like me?

I have everything ready to go, we have two pools to go at and the midwife dropped off a linen bag from the maternity annex on Tuesday so I have plenty of sheets, towels, pads, greens etc. and have quite a collection of my own along with flannels hotties etc.

I'm a little worried about how cold the house is, we are used to it but not sure it's warm enough for a baby so will be plugging the oil heater in along with the woodburner and hoping that does the trick...that'll wor so long as I dont want to give birth in bed!

Hope you are all well, would love to read some stories or hear how your plans have come along.

I can tell you a story that is 22 months old!! But not due for another six months this time ;-)

Has anyone had to hire a pool? I was able to borrow one last time, but it sounds like that won't be possible this time round.

lisame, I'd love to read your story! we have borrowed a pool from the midwife but she has also brought us a pool just bought from Mitre 10 that is high sided with a blow up floor, might be worth investing in on of those that the kids can use later?

I've been so so adamant that I'll be having a home birth I havent prepared myself for the hospital in any way. The more overdue I get the more panicy I get about it, fingers crossed this bub arrives soon!

Anyone got any tips for an irritating neighbour, he saw my midwives car here the other day and thought I was having the baby so came round, he doesnt go to the front door he comes down the side of the house and round the back...where the pool will be. I find him creepy at the best of times and told him i didnt want him round but he came round again and did the same thing when DH got home. We have curtains but I dont see why I should have to have everything shut just because he's wierd, I'm worried about when I'm breastfeeding too that he'll do the same thing.

Weird about the neighbour- tell him you'll call the police if u really dont want him coming over ever.

We planned a homebirth with #2 but I still got a bag ready that had change of clothes for me, babies clothes/nappys, heatpack etc etc- everything I wanted for the labour/birth in it,...so that when I was in labour I didnt have to go hunting for everything, and it was all in one place if someone other than me had to look for the stuff, or if we did have to go to hospital- in the end when the waters broke there was muconium so we transferred to hospital,..and forgot the camera!

hmm that is weird about your neighbour that would totally freak me out.

i have had two homebirths but still pack a hospital bag for me and baby - i use everything in it for my birth at home so like Kellz said everything i need is in one place.

and im totally with you on the worrying about being overdue i was like that with number 2 as didnt want to have DD1 to go anywhere but baby came at 11 days over.

this time in not worried at all baby will come when she is ready.

OMG that would freak me on the neighbour. Can your DH talk to him???

Get a cheap digital thermometer. Our lounge was about 27 at floor level for bubs. Was a great temp. We didnt' have a pool though.

The midwife will get you to shut all the curtains I think, not so much for privacy but to maintain temp of the room for Bubs.
