Topic: Funny things kids say Posted: 08 September 2006 at 11:49am |
I thought I'd start a fun thread seeing as my last post was so yucky.
Ella is talking heaps now, and has some really funny ways of saying things. Some of her words have become normal vocablulary for us and extended family too.
Here are some of hers;
Stinky = Dinky
Sticky = Dicky
Chicken = Dicken
Music = Mooksie
Butterflies (her fav thing) = Fa-flies
Any drink with bubbles in = Beer
Tiger = Zeeeeba (but go figure, Zebra = Zebra??)
All bears = Teddy Beer
Grandma & Grandad = Gama-gandad
Uncle Josh = Yucky Dosh
What do your littlies say that makes you laugh?

Maya calls my parents Ninny (Grandad) and Meema (Grandma) Started because she couldn't say the words properly and even tho she can now pronounce them, the nicknames have stuck. Can see the gremlins calling them Ninny and Meema too.
I have no idea how she got Ninny out of Grandad, but Mum reckons it's appropriate...

Kiya used to say "Luggasink" (lug-a-sink) for elephant! However, she recognised if we used the wrong word, so conversations would go:
K: "There's a luggasink!"
Me: "A luggasink?"
K: "No! A luggasink!"
Me: "An elephant?"
K: "Yes! A luggasink!"

Ella used to call beer "daddy water"
Yesterday we went to buy some icing sugar from the dairy to ice biscuits and when we got back she said "now we've got our icecream sugar mummy". hehe
She comes up with funny words and phrases each day lol

ooH, Becca, there is a specifi teachery word for that..i forget.
Jake always says "oh no" with great seriousness. I asked him "do you love mummy", "oh no" he looks at me shaking his head.
and the animal impressions are pretty impressive - he can do elephants, sheep, cows, monkeys and zebras - they sound like horses. (well not really, bu when he asked i kinda ad-libbed)

Was just going to ask that!
Paris never really had any insteresting words. Ayja has the monkey sound down-packed.. if anyone says "ayja is a monkey"he grins and goes "ooh ooh ooh aah aah aah" so cheeky. and she has one of the blow up monkeys in her room that we had for paris's party.. each night we have to say goodnight to all these different things before bed and she waves to them or kisses them.. and we'll get to the monkey and i'll say "goodnight monkey" and we just get the "ooh ooh ooh aah aah ah".
ooh we did have a funny thing with paris the other day though:
we went to the esplanade playground the other weekend, and we were pulling up to the carpark and an old lady was walking by and we had to wait for her and we hear a little voice from the back seat say really excitedly "hey, this place has nanas!!" I nearly split my sides.
then,
that was the day that she knew my mum was coming home from holiday at my sister mels, and we had told her mum was coming home on the train.. we had got out of
the car, after the "this place has nanas" remark.. and were walking along near the entrance to the playground by the big slide.. she hears the little miniature train whistle go and hears it coming along the tracks and she goes "oooh that will be nana!!! nana's on that train!!!" and got really excited. again,
was all i could do not to end up rolling on the ground in fits of laughter. she seriously thought that nana was coming home from hamilton on the little esplanade train!! I told her no, nana was coming on a proper train and mike jokes "oh no.. she's on that train!" so paris stood there watching the train go past, looking for nana.. and was not happy with dad when she saw that indeed, nana was NOT ON THE TRAIN. ahh so funny.

I have to add something else that Ella said yesterday.. there is a song that goes "5 little monkies jumping on the bed, one fell off and jumped his head". We sang it in playgroup yesterday.. so in the afternoon we were hanging washing out and Ella dropped a peg on the ground. Ella said "oh no, he bumped his head!" and picked it up and gave it a cuddle.. she did it again for other pegs, and a coathanger. hehe

if you watch Baby Einstein, you can hear the noise a zebra makes - not like a whining horse/donkey like i made up. although zebras are quite high pitched. if you are interested - polar bears hiss when they are angry.

Maya used to call elephants "elphelants" and lions "ligons" and horses "norsies" but now she gets cross when we use those words and corrects us.

Don't worry Karysta - Maya calls Daddy "black a*s" and Mummy "Mama Hippotopamus". Both of those came out of her fathers mouth first...
