Hi there
We would like to get our son a bike for Christmas but have no idea to begin. He loves his little ride on plastic fantastic. What would you recommend for this age group? He probably wont be able to pedal yet but Im sure he will figure it out in time!
Thanks!

I would go for a 12" bike with trainer wheels. Ashleigh got hers for Xmas last year so was 2.5yrs and got the hang of it straight away

Perfect! Some people say that trikes are better for young ones - but I found with Ashleigh that the pedalling motion on a trike was alot harder for her as the pedals are out the front rather than straight down IYGWIM? She had much better success on a normal bike. But she also has an old basic trike that she can now hoon around on just in the back yard and rides her big bike on the footpath to the park etc.

We are giving Tom a glide to ride bike. He will be 28 months then. I dont know how he will cope as he isnt tall and I think he might only just reach the ground...also it is quite heavy...but I have heard such positive things about it and about going without training wheels so I thought we'd try. IT was on special when we bought it too.

I'd go straight to a running bike - either Mocka or JDBug.  We're getting our nearly 2 year old one a Mocka for Christmas and I can see he's gonna love it.  Means they never need training wheels and most kids are on to a small two wheeler with just pedals at 3.

Micah had a 12" bike with trainers and rode it fine with the pedling etc, he got it just before he was 2. So your son shouldnt have a problem!

I agree about the bikes being easier to pedal than the trikes, and they can go faster too!! although, I'm not actually sure that is always a good thing come to think of it!!!

DS who is now 3 never figured out how to peddle the trike he loves his glide to ride bike. It has no peddles to start off with, its heavy though.

Jack started on a trike but found a 12" bike so much easier and can now ride it without training wheels. Caprece on the other hand is pretty lazy with pedals and just wants to be pushed so she will be getting a glide to ride for christmas.

Stacey we got our bike from the warehouse they are a pretty reasonable price but I cant quite remember how much.
