Oh exciting Scribe! Are you due on the 8th August as well? What school is your daughter going to go to in Wadestown? When I lived over there my daughter went to Wadestown School. It was an awesome school. Oh and you are near my age too. Cool! I turned 34 on Tuesday. I don't find winter in Wellington too bad. Not compared to CHCH! Like you, I didn't find my 1st MW that great. But my 2nd was brilliant and I have her again Oh cool you have a boy on the way! I find out what I'm having today. I have 2 girls as well, age 3 and 9(turning 10 in October) I also had real bad morning sickness with this one, that has eased up more in 2nd trimester. But seem to be getting sciatic pain since last week with this one. Would love to meet up as well Scribe.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to do some research and start calling midwives this afternoon. Birth Options are not on my list so I guess they don't cover Wadestown, but there seem to be plenty of others.
I've joined the coffee group on facebook too, so maybe I'll see some of you soon.

Is the coffee group on Facebook secret or will it appear on my newsfeed if I join? LOL I haven't made a big announcement yet - doing that next week after my 12 week scan! Whoop whoop :D
Oh and Yay for Thyme Cafe Amanda :) There are very few options in terms of decent cafes in the J'Ville area so am stoked we have that little gem.

I think people can see that you are in the group, but because it's a closed group, only members can see the posts.

I've found an MW! Yay! I went with Libby Neal from Capital City Midwives. She seemed nice on the phone and had space for November. I'm meeting her next week so hopefully I'll like her in person too.
Rachie, the coffee group seems to be a secret group. I hope so otherwise I've just announced to the world at less than 6 weeks!

It's a closed group. So that means people can only see who is in the group, but not the posts. Only us members of the group see the posts. So no worries about anyone else seeing our posts.

Great that you have a midwife Laura Sorry for taking ages to reply Escadachic, I've been so busy lately. We've had lots of visitors staying, etc. I'm due slightly earlier than you, August 2 - but we're very close. My daughter's going to a school in the city end of Kelburn, but I don't think we could afford to live there, so that's why we were thinking more Wadestown/Wilton probably. You had really bad morning sickness too? It's such a myth that just girls cause bad morning sickness!

Hi Sophie
Have you joined the November 2013 private group too? I'm due in November too maybe we'll find ourselves in the same antenatal classes etc. I work in the city too. Which bit - I'm near Midland Park.

Hi Sophie. I'm due on 17th but that's based on my period, I haven't had a scan yet so I'm expecting it to change when I have my 12 week scan because my cycle was a bit variable in length and I really thought we'd missed the window in February.
I have got a MW. I went with Libby Neal from Capital City. I met her recently and she seems really nice. How are you getting on with finding one?
I'm really excited too. Can't wait until I've had my scan and can tell people. Booked for 1 May.

Hi everyone. I'm 18 weeks pregnant with my second (my son is 5) and we live in Kilbirnie, i work in Te Aro. Im turning 33 next week! Anyone in the area? Last time around I pretty much hid in the house for 6months and struggled to meet other mums. None of my friends were even close to wanting children when I had my son! I also don't drive which is a pain, so I'd love to meet people close by to hang out with occasionally, especially once the baby arrives, but also if anyone is interested in doing pregnancy swim classes/aqua jogging at Kilbirnie pool? I'm developing a really bad back this time around, and want to try to sort it out, exercise always seemed to help. Cheers!

Hopefully there are some people around your side of town.
I'm in Churton Park. But I do have a car, so if there were a few people wanting to meet over town ways I might be keen. I'm 34 myself and I have 2 girls(aged 3 & 9) and I'm 23 wks pregnant with #3

Hi Wellington Mums-to-be,
Does anyone have any ideas about getting to and from Wellington hospital when in labour and with a newborn without a car?
We have a car but OH won't be able to drive on his own by the time I'm due as he's only just applying for his learners, so has 6 months until he can get his restricted. This means although he can drive to/from the hospital with me in the car, he can't get the car home and back after the birth and before I'm released.
Unfortunately I don't know where we'll be living and I don't have friends with a car who I can ask for a ride.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Yeah I kind of have the same issue as you to be honest. In fact, DF has his learners and has only driven our manual 3 times and not on the roads, just in an empty truck storage area. If we had an auto he could at least drive me to the hospital and back and yeah like you, I have the issue of him not being able to drive the car without me or another fully licensed driver in it. Could you maybe bring up this with your midwife and see if she can offer any suggestions. I myself totally understand your situation. I am at a loss as to what to do childminding wise once I have to go to hospital. As for me, if it's a week day, I can only find someone to look after my older child, not my younger one. If it's the weekend it'll be fine, but babies to run by our rules. Last time I had to take my daughter with me and poor girl saw her little sister born
