Topic: Baby no 2 or more, early or late Posted: 28 February 2011 at 8:52am |
Hi,
So for some dumb reason I was totally and utterly convinced that your 2nd child had to arrive earlier than your first, so am a bit amazed i'm still in one piece, so now just curious about what happened to others:
Was your second, third, fourth on time or late, if late how much later
How many of you have been out and about when labor started, ie at shops, doing an activity with your other child etc.........
sure I had another question but I forgot

Ooh no answers but interested in this too...DS1 was 10 days over and induced and I would LOVE to 1) not be overdue (or quite SO overdue) and 2) not be induced!

Were you possibly thinking that due to the saying 'After the first they just fall out?'
I had asked my mw this and about giving birth in general as I'd heard that being young (I was 19 when I had DD) that they can come early and she said that all babies, whether 1st, 2nd, 3rd... come when they are ready (unless induced)and that there wasn't a whole lot you could do about it. She did tell me she didn't think I'd have a baby bigger than 7lbs due to my size and DD was just under 7lbs - 1 week early.

I havent had my 2nd yet, but i know of a few friends who had there first 1-2 weeks early and went well overdue with #2
I went 2 days over with DD. So this time i think ill go over even more, unsure why. Going early would be a nice surprise however

#1 was 9 days early and #2 was 8 days early, however I have known of people to have the opposite to their #1 i.e. if #1 was early then #2 late or vice versa
I actually thought I was having BH when I was at Playcentre with Jack, but looking back it was actually contractions and the beginnings of labour with Ben

No1 - 5 days over, and I was in hospital when labour started due to high BP. Labour started naturally overnight
No2 - 6 days over. I was at home when labour started somewhere between 2 & 4 am (I was asleep at the time) - Bubs was in my arms by 7.30 that morning :D

With #1 my waters broke at 2 days overdue but labour didn't progress so was induced the next day (8am) and he was born that night(8pm). My waters broke at 2am when i was on the toilet. Hehe.
With #2 my waters broke 3 days before my due date but again labour didn't progress so i was induced the next day (10am) and she was born that afternoon (3pm). My waters broke at 9am and i was just at home. I was actually talking to my mum on the phone and we had just been talking about me going into labour, she had been saying for ages that that was the day she thought baby would arrive. lol. I felt a weird feeling while i was talking to her, then got up off the couch when i hung up and some of my waters gushed out onto the carpet. Lovely. lol.

#1 I was a couple of days early....but DD has a different father and my mw says it can change your pregnancy completely having a different father.
#2 & #3 were both boys and both 8 days late!

DS1 was 2 weeks early induced due to pre PE...
DS2 was a week early scheduled for c section at 39 weeks on the monday he came on the friday.. first pain 230 born at 751.. they didn't believe me i go fast even after the first time *sigh* so had to do most of it without the pain relief i needed:(
2nd pregnancy was much 'easier' but i felt sicker and found it harder in terms of less resting.. i was woken by pains with DS2 I would have been too paranoid to go out in case of water breaking(though both times water broken at hospital:)

ok, so I gather it can be anything - I just really thought he would be a bit early, having said that the whole way through my first pregnancy they said he was measuring big for his dates they've nto said that this time round.
I just want him out, I have all sorts of ligament issues this time and everyday I can move a little less, not easy with a toddler!!!
In my head I also seem to think that nothing would happen whilst I was out and about like swimming or something, which is dumb there is no reason it won't I suppose.

My mw told me that if my waters didn't break first last time (I had them broken during labour) then they probably won't this time either. Somewhat reassuring!

#1 2 days early
#2 8 days late (I really thought he was going to early like his sister and was shocked to find myself overdue by a week).
Both labours started in the middle of the night, so I was at home

#1 was 4 days late
#2 was 5 days late
#3 was 1 day early
I went into labour with all 3 at home and my waters never broke on their own, they were always artificially ruptured while in labour.
Fx'd bub won't keep you waiting too much longer!

Eek I was hoping the fact that DD came early would mean this one would too as well Fiona! DD was a bit too early though (36w5d) so was hoping for around 38wks for this one, hope he's listening
I was sure DD would be overdue seeing as I was 3wks late, but nope she was in a hurry! And with the waters hmm well my hindwater broke the day before she was born, but labour didn't progress on it's own so was induced the next day just with gel then artificial breaking of fore-water. 3.5hr labour though so hoping for a similar experience this time hehe, without the inducing seeing as we're planning a home birth this time.
