Ok, this might be a really stupid question but it's been so hot lately - I'm desperate for a swim!

I still have lochia but it is really light (it was much heavier with Jude) - even when Willem is going through a growth spurt and feeding lots, or after exercise etc, it increases a very small amount but still very light (not light enough to go pad free though...)

I don't want to use tampons for the whole day (well, I do want to because I hate pads - but won't 'cause of the risk of infection ) but would an hour or so for a cool swim still be too much? I guess just the act of inserting the tampon is enough to introduce the harmful bacteria that cause infection...

Gah, I've probably just answered my own question - I know you shouldn't use tampons until your next period. Putting my feet in the water isn't cutting it though - I'm feeling super good right now, the only thing that seems to be holding me back from doing "stuff" is these stupid pads

Lol I think you did answer your own question. What about a cool bath instead?
Maybe check with your midwife about the tampons anyway? You must be feeling great, I can't imagine wanting to go near down there with a tampon two weeks after giving birth lol (mind you I had quite a few stitches last time )

Is it ok to go swimming? I thought while you still had lochia, you were still a little open down there and might be more at risk of infection. I dont really have any idea so dont take too much on that.

I thought it was because not only infection but it could get lost whilst you are still closing up/healing... ??

I wouldn't think the cervix is closed yet at two weeks?
I feel ur frustration. I'm at 4.5 weeks and I think I'd probably consider 1 hour ok.

After a couple of weeks my midwife said that it was safe to use Tampons, but I didn't, although it was middle of winter so had no desire to go swimming.

If it is really light, why don't you just use nothing and go for a swim in the ocean?

Definitely no tampons with lochia... my mum found out why first-hand as she got one stuck in her uterus and it got infected (cervix not closed properly yet after birth). Anyway it had to be surgically removed, so don't risk it!
