    Posted: 15 November 2010 at 12:30pm
Hi there, I've got a toddler and twins on the way. We use disposables and obviously I'm going to want a cost effective option. I've always used Huggies and now the new improved Treasures which I pick up whenever I see them on sale.

Someone recommended the Red Stamp brand nappies from the Warehouse, they're fairly cheap. I've tried them on DS, 19 months and they have worked well so far, even over night. The nappies are a lot thinner than the ones I normally use so am wondering if they would pass the test of newborn / infant wee and (explosive) number 2. Has anyone used this brand on young babies, what did you think?? I'm thinking I might try the cheaper naps during the day with the twins and save the expensive ones for night.

Any feedback and advice on Red Stamp or other cheap nappy brands is most appreciated!

Have you thought of buying in bulk online?

I buy from babies.co.nz they have really good sales on frequently. Like if you get one case you can get another at 50% off etc. From there i love sealer naps. They had a really really good deal on huggies last week so I got some of those.

I haven't tried Red Stamp nappies, but the Home Brand nappies from Countdown are awesome! I find them just as good as Huggies and Treasures, and are a third of the price.

Ď really like Pams nappies. I find that the cheaper Budget ones smell really plasticy which can't be good for baby. But I used the pams ones when DS was newborn and treasures/huggies over night.

I couldnt use anything but Huggies on DD when she was newborn.

But from 6 months i have always used budget when not using cloth.

Ive found budget the cheapest. I got some today to put away and they were $5 for the 20pkt.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Target did a consumer test and the best budget brand was woolworths/countdown homebrand.
Select Range was pretty bad.
Baby online also has good specials on and off. Thing about the online nappy places is that most of them are free delivery in Auckland. By the time you pay shipping elsewhere the deal doesn't look so good.

I love the Homebrand ones from Countdown.

I used Huggies on DD for the first few months until she was past the real liquid poo phase. I've now completely switched (except for Huggies at night) and they are fantastic.

I have used the odd Homebrand one overnight when I've run out of Huggies and I've never had a leak. She isn't a heavy wetter overnight though, and very rarely has a dirty nappy in the morning.

The Homebrand nappies are awesome for overnight (that's normally when I'll use them, we use cloth during the day), and that's for a heavy wetter too. And contain runny poos well too!

We ahve also used the countdown homebrand ones and they work well My biggest thing is buying for 2 is expensive Im always looking out for when any brand is on a good special. we use cloth during the day when at home, and disposables if going out for a while and overnight.

TBH I hate Huggies, the nappies are absolute crap.

Treasures are ok, I don't like budget simply because the tabs are like cellotape (sp?)

Woolworth select are one of my faves as is Pams and the Red stamp ones.

However we only used Treasures and Huggies (for a very short time) on DD until she was 6 weeks and then switched to Woolworths one and mix between Pams, Red Stamp, Treasures and Woolies one.

Most people are scared to use the cheap brands because they think they aren't as good quality as the expensive ones but it's not true.

Oh have also tried the babylove ones with the poo pouch - it doesn't work!

i have found it depends on the size and shape of baby.
with my 1st i could use any brand and never had a problem.
with my 2nd he leaked through everything (he had skinny bum and skinnier legs. i ended up using huggies, which i had never used on my 1st. and they never leaked as long as i had the right size. though once he was 6mths i was able to switch to a cheaper brand )was using babylove before they became a big brand. now use homebrand.

with my 3rd i just bought enough huggies to last a few months then again switched to cheaper brand. and did the same with my last baby.

i proberbly used about 4 boxes of huggies before switching brands, but i also use cloth nappies when i can be bothered.
