Topic: Nap question Posted: 27 July 2008 at 7:11pm |
Spencer has dropped his afternoon nap for the past few days which seems to be working out great. Has anyone elses baby done this? I thought that normally they end up with a lunch time nap but he crashes out by 10am and then gets up 12ish and is up till 7pm. It's working so not worried about changing it just curious as all the other babies I now are either still on 2 naps or have gone down to 1 at lunch.

Hey how are you?
Both my children did this, both cut down to 1 sleep a day at 10 months old, and both it was a morning sleep also, i used to think my children were weird, however it is great because then you have all afternoon.

Yeah i'm good, just tired. Should be at the meet up on Thursday if we don't get hit by another lurgy.
Glad Spencer isn't the only one to nap this way, i'm really surprised he doesn't get tired in the afternoon, I know i do running around after him.

Tom has started doing this occasionally too. Mostly he has 2 sleeps, on 2 hours after waking (about 1.5hrs) and then one ata bout 1 or 2pm for 2hrs but a few times last week he flatly refused the afternoon one so is going from about12 through to 7....or maybe 6.30!

I've heard that is very common. They drop the arvo one and then the morning one gradually moves towards lunchtime as they are able to stay up more in the morning.
Very common.

Samantha did this at around 11-12 months old and hasn't stopped.
She normally goes down around 10-10.30 and is up anytime from 12-1pm in time for lunch.
The big bonus is since she started doing this she has gradually brought her bedtime down to just after 6pm as well so DH and I have our evenings back to ourselves

So i guess it is totally normal, well i thought so anyway as both my children do it, if my 3 year old daughter wakes early about 6am, she will still go back down at about 10.30am - 11.00am. My son never got tired in the afternoon either since he was doing it from 10 months old you would think he would get grizzly about 4pm but no as long as he has food he is ok
Definately hope to see you thursday cuppatea, tell me about the lurgy you seem to go through a stage when one of you is always sick its non stop some times lol
