Hi

I am currently trying to toilet train my son who is 2 1/2, He has no fear of going on the toilet but will not do number 2's on there yet hes done it a couple of time but that is probably coz I see him making "the face" and whisk him off to the loo, anyway he still wont tell me when he needs to go so I ask him every hour if he needs to go, (any advice on how to get them to do this?)

I was just wondering though when they have an accident on the floor or couch does anyone have any recommendations about what to use to "dry up the patch and get rid of any smell that may stay on there" I've been lucky as the weather has been fine but still don't have a clue how to "clean up the accident" i guess.

Cheers

I can't help you with the TT (we're yet to start) but I wish I knew the answer to this one. My daughter had a massive wee on the sofa the other day. Doesn't stink yet but I'm waiting for it.

When I was TTing DS, I'd just clean up any puddles with warm water with a bit of dettol. Never had any problems with stains or smells.

We are in the same frustrating situation where DD won't do #2 in the toilet - is great with #1's but has some sort of mental block with #2's, so unfortunately no advice there.
As for accidents, I soak up as much as possible, then squeeze some water mixed with a splash of white vinegar on it and soak that up. (It's what we did when we had a new puppy years ago). Seems to have worked so far.

yeah water with white vinegar or sprinkle baking soda over it, leave it for abit then vacuum it off. TBH I've never found that their pee leaves a smell at that age - if it did I'd probably be abit concerned at how much they were drinking.

As for training him I've left both my boys to their own timing but then they've both started early so not a huge amount of help there sorry except to suggest the toilet training thread (its a sticky topic up the top of toddler times) and I read and liked Diane Levys (?) method where you change their nappy in the toilet and progress from there. GL!
