To a big bed, that is!

DD and I are going to my parents for a week in a month, where she will be sleeping in a big (well, single) bed. She'll have the safety sleep on, but she's not a fan of it and crawls out of it before falling asleep anyway.

I'm half tempted to have DH take down her cot while we're away, and just shift her into her big bed when we get home (depending of course how it's gone down there). It's already in her room, she knows it's for sleeping (we play putting each other to bed in all the beds in the house lol). DH however isn't so keen, he thinks she is just too little, and wants to wait until she's 2. She does sleep well in her cot, and moves around a lot in her sleep, but I can't help but think this might be a good opportunity to do the transition.

Any thoughts? What would you do?

I would be inclined to wait until she's older too (especially if she moves around a lot) but definitely see how she goes when you're away.

We moved DD when she was 2yo but in hindsight should have done it earlier because from about 22 mths she was waking at night banging against the cot sides. Once she was in a single bed she wentback to sleeping through for a couple of months until she realized that no cot side meant she could bed hop and we've been trying to convince her to stay in her own bed all night ever since

We move DD into her bed at 18months and she was a wee bit of a mover but she sleeps so well in her bed im glad we did it young, we also started off with the bed in her rm which we played on then I started her on day naps for a week or 2 then we did night sleeps.

Ive had no regrets on moving her early, its been 4months now and only once or twice has she got out of her bed at night and that was more of because she woke up scare for some reason but she went straight back to sleep both times.

Good luck on what ever you decide.

Angel Baby Dec 09, We will love you forever.

Does she sleep during the day still?  I started popping Ollie into his bed for a few day sleeps just to get a sense of whether he was comfortable with the idea first.  If you could do that before you went then I think you'd know whether it was going to work for you.
