Congrats Choco! I agree with everyone else who said most of the baby stuff they try to sell you is totally unnecessary. My mum bought me heaps of stuff and I felt real bad not using it. Def try before you buy. I bought practically nothing for my baby - we co-slept so didn't need a cot. Found prams & strollers were more annoying than helpful so I just used a sling carrier.

My essentials are: lots of spill clothes ( flat cloth nappies are useful), lots of wraps & blankets (fleece is good - dries fast), a pouch sling made of jersey cotton or other material with a little stretch, a set of pocket nappies.

My money saving baby tips are:
1) Trademe is great for baby stuff - you can get things brand new/near new for way cheaper than the shops
2) Go re-usable all the way. Nappies, liners, breastpads, wipes.
3) Breastfeeding is free and you can skip buying bottles.
4) You might be able to rent some things from Plunket or Parents centre.
5) Try out your friends' stuff like carriers and strollers to see if you like them before spending heaps of money on them
As for supermarket supplies, the only baby things I buy there are a sensitive, fragrance-free laundry powder, pams unscented wet-wipes, bepanthen and the occasional jar of Organics food.

Congrats on your pregnancy :)

So cool your mum is so involved and excited, my mum was too and so far she has been the best help with my NB!

IMO while all the best intentions to BF, Cloth Nappy, Cloth Wipe and BLW, when it comes to it and your faced with days of sleep deprivation sometimes a disposable nappy and a tub of huggies wipes just makes getting thru the next 10 minutes a little bit more bearable!

T is in fulltime cloth now and has been pretty much since 5 days old, but in saying that its hard to convince grandparents and dads that cloth is as easy as us mums think it is, and for the sake of someone else doing the poo nappy change when all you want to do is eat your dinner i say have some sposie stuff there lol

Dont worry to much about which brand of sposies you end up with, even the el-cheapo's do a job! They might not have 3 poo expolosion guards and winnie the pooh on them but they work haha.

Other than that food is the only thing I would reccommend. Your gunna be so busy looking after that new precious bundle time to eat will be hard to come by! Suggest if she doesnt want to get you vouchers, to grab some weight watchers frozen meals for the freezer? or up and go's. I swore by being able to skull an up & go while feeding in the morning, a bowl of cereal and NB's is a tricky skill to master hehe

All the best for a happy and healthy pregnancy

Not had bub yet but if I had the option I'd go for supermarket vouchers too ... that way if you don't need anything for the baby you can put it towards food when your paid maternity leave runs out :)

Hello. Now everything can be bought online and it seems to me that it is quite profitable. Do not you think so? For example, I found a lot of sports goods here https://en.aliradar.com/category/144011-spot-welders and noticed that the prices are much lower than the ppm in the store near my house and the choice is very large. Now I also choose dishes in this store and I am satisfied.
