She did as she was told - shock horror!

Twice over the last couple of days Michaela's been put into timeout for throwing things on the floor and refusing to pick them up. Both times after timeout, to my surprise, she went into the lounge and tidied up her mess.

Plus, shortly after one of the time outs she threw her crayons on the floor and when I asked her to pick them up she just stood there looking defiant so I started counting. I never made it past 2 before she started putting away all her crayons.

I don't want to say that she's finally listening and doing as she's told (in a timely manner) as that would just be inviting disaster but touch wood this new habit continues (don't worry, I'm not holding my breath, just very hopeful).

Oh yeah, the tantys are unbelievable!! But they do seem to finish as quickly as they start so that's a good thing.

We are lucky that Char is easily distracted. So we can change the subject and the tanty stops. Even still, they suck - Nana had the unfortunate experience of one in the supermarket on the weekend - she was not impressed!

There's been a few occasions where I've threatened time out in the middle of town but only one where I've had to follow through.

The other week though we stopped at a park on our way home and when it was time to leave she didn't want to. It took me ages to get her into her carseat while she kicked/screamed/tugged my hair/arched her back. I have to admit that the thought of just closing the back door, leaving her unbuckled, while I drove home briefly flitted across my mind - don't worry, I'm not an idiot and I did eventually get her strapped up for the 3 min car ride home.

He he! Ive had times when the thought of just shutting the door and leaving her outside the car and driving off has crossed my mind

I don't go to the supermarket with Michaela, not for the big fortnightly shop anyway - I have been a regular online shopper at woolworths since she was 8 wks old.

Definitly. I have a list typed in excel, I copy and paste the contents into the quicklist function online and hit search then chose the products I want. I don't get distracted or attracted by bigs displays or anything like that so I only end up buying what's on my list.

It's really handy that you can make standard lists too. So things that I buy all the time (milk/bread/coffee/cat food etc.) can be on a standard list and it saves me from forgetting items.

Plus it's handy, I can shop whenever/wherever. I've been known to do my groceries from work but most often I do them once Michaela's gone to bed.

Oh, stink to hear about the shopping. Elle loves to sit in the trolly chatting to me, giving me kisses, trying to steal apples (!!!) etc. We do have to take lots of snacks though. It's a nice time of the week for us ATM. I hope she doesn't grow out of it.

Ooo don't ya love it when time out actually works. It worked for Jack for ages, the threat was enough to get him to do what he was told, not anymore tho

Ha shopping, what a nightmare. Yesterday we went and by then end he was lying on the floor screaming while I was putting everything on the counter, totally ignoring him. People kept stopping and looking for his mum but at least they smiled at me when they realised I was watching him. He used to be so good at shopping too
