My son has regressed in a big way when it comes to sleeping at night. I am accepting its prob just a phase... and pray for the end to be near... bring back sleeping more than 2 hrs, and without me all the time.
Anyways- I have noticed that at say 2am or 3am or whatever time is innapropriate to be awake... he has a racing heart. Like he has run up and down the corridor or something. He is fidgety and wants to get up... but not upset or distressed, as long as I am there. Any ideas?? I wondered if he was dreaming a lot, and getting quite wired from them... he sleep talks too. Seems so energised aaaaaaallllll the time. How do I calm him down?? Esp at 2am!!!!!

Aw Kat I am sorry to hear L has regressed. Hope you ok.

To calm my kids down I use weleda relaxing drops - at dinner time, before bed and again if they wake up and are distressed/wound up. Is his breathing ok? I am thinking sleep apnoea here, but I am not a health prof so don't know much about it in kids... is he still having a daytime nap? Maybe he gets too much sleep and that causes him to wake up at night? or maybe he is just having bad dreams Good luck x

My 2.5yo has woken a few times after a bad dream with a racing heart rate and shaking too. His language has been quite good for a while now so he's able to tell us he's afraid of (whatever it is). So it could just be a bad dream? My DS doesn't tend to be "wide awake" after a bad dream although I was surprised when I shared a room with him on holiday a couple of months back that he is up and down a lot in the night - all while he's fast asleep He sits bolt upright and talks and all sorts...

Sorry, bit off topic! Hope your wee boy gets back into an easier sleep pattern soon
