Hi. I was just wondering what people use for this, and whether they are effective???

Ethan was a spilly baby... so with the next one (whenever it happens) I want to be prepared with a few good cloths on hand..
Thanks

I mostly used cot/bassinette sheets (whichever size I wasn't using for bedtimes) and old flat nappies. But Briona was my reflux baby and the other girls weren't. So it doesn't necessary follow that a new baby will be spilly because the previous one was.

I just looked at your ticker again. Gosh, you're organised!

Me as well with the flat whites, so easy to use and they can be used for so much else.

Yep cloth flats aswell. I just folded them in half so they are thick enough so any "spillage" doesn't leak through and they are just the right length to throw over your shoulder to protect you when burping

I used cloth flats when Ethan was little. Just was wondering if there was anything better out there since he was born.

We use either cloth flats or muslin cloths. I keep a muslin cloth next to where I feed them all the time coz they inevitably spill, and before they were mobile I'd use one under their heads when they were lying on their playmat. They were refluxers too, and still spill something shocking

Kmart charge $16.95 per half dozen and Baby Factory $29.95 per dozen. You can sometimes get them on TM

I used cloth flats as well -- flannelette ones. I also made my own burp cloths from flannelette -- easy peasy if you have a sewing machine. I did some fancy ones with quilt batting in between layers, but it's just as easy to put four or so layers of flannelette together, then sew a straight seam around the four sides and use pinking shears to trim the edges so they look pretty. (Maybe I should go into business making burp cloths!)

Hi Bee, I think I folded the cloths in half. Briona had silent reflux so she wasn't overly spilly - often but not much at a time. Folded in half was ample.

Ella's got reflux so we're well-used to messes here.  Before she was born I made 6 little burp cloths out of funky thick flanelette sewn 2 layers thick - each cloth about the size of a tea-towel.... OH HOW NAIEVE WAS I?!?   I quickly changed to the cloth flats - gotta have that extra coverage!  I also accidentally bought some of those dicky burp cloths made from the same stuff mattress protectors are made from (fleecy, but waterproof).  I thought I was buying flat square things, but they are long and shaped to fit over your shoulder.  Great for if you're burping a mouse, and that'd be about it.
