My midwife just called to say she is bailing on the shared care arrangement. I'm rather upset considering I'm 22 weeks and she's had quite a while to make a decision about it. My other LMC is a specialist she has never worked with, so that was her reasoning. Her decision I guess, but it would have been nice for her to let me know before now. I have booked into to do my antenatal classes at the place she works from. So I have to find another class now. They were due to start early June, so I hope I don't miss out. Can anyone recommend antenatal classes on the North Shore that aren't at the hospital? Cheers.

Hi Mookey - bummer, I would be pretty annoyed by this too, she must have known for a while that she wasnt comfortable with the arrangement...grrr!!

I dont know of any on the Shore, but am sure that someone will. If you get stuck, I know that the Birthcare ones in Parnell are highly recommended and they have them on different nights during the week so you can normally find one to suit.

Good Luck - am sure one of the other OhBaby ladies will be able to help!

I have heard great things about the local parents centres from friends, so I have booked into West Auckland Parents Centre antenatal classes, but you do have to pay.

If you go to http://www.parentscentre.org.nz/about/centres.asp - this website, I see they have a parents centre over your way.

Hope that helps.

Mookey - it's the Waitemata Parents Center.

I will PM you the contact for antenatal classes. I am currently doing them on the Shore - they are held at St Johns ambulance place - just outside NSH.

It depends where you live on the NS, as to which Parents Centre you go to. I called the Waitemata number and they put me through to the Birkenhead Branch which was better for me.

My MW recommended to me that we enrol at Parents Centre too. And from what I've heard they run excellent courses. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll find a spot.

We're doing the parent centre course too (in west ak tho)right now, and it seems to be great so far ... my doc recommended their course to us. Hopefully you will still be able to get a place in one of their shore courses.

you might have trouble getting in to parents centre as i couldnt get in to the devonport/takapuna one ages ago. and they had a waiting list of about 12 people!
So got into the birthcare one. Thought it better to be booked into something!

Good luck! i understand your frustration.

You might face problems going for classes. My sister has signed up for an online course on https://abudo.com/our-courses/maternity%20" rel="nofollow - health education for antenatal mother , check this if interested.
