Hi there,
Im just wondering if anyone has any experience with giving birth after a Grade Three episiotomy? Thoughts, experiences etc.
The episiotomy was not bad last time, but the stitching up was, and the healing after. I'm concerned about whether I should be considering an c-section.
My issue is that there are no Private Obstetricians where I live so its difficult to get information on this. I have a midwife from previous pregnancies (didn't deliver my first baby as had to hand over my care to the hospital midwives) but I am concerned that I wont get the right information out of them as they are very "pro vaginal" which is fine, but I just want to know a bit more.
Any ideas?

Hey Mount,
I had a friend who just had this same experience... First birth was 3rd degree tears and recovery wasn't good, she ended up in cesarean for her second baby. When I asked her what she preferred she said hands down a c section... She said the recovery wasn't nearly as bad as third degree tears.
If you're a small slim person the recovery is no major.. It's the bugger women who usually struggle. My own c section was actually really easy..

Ok, thanks... thats kind of how i'm feeling but I guess I will have to ask FA whether they could refer me to a Public Obstetrician here in Manawatu if he thinks he can, otherwise I might have to trek it to Wellington for a private one.
I know several friends who have had very easy C-sections when planned.
I just dont know how to get the right info.
Thanks for that, I feel like I might be on the right track so will stick to my guns and try and get in to see someone to find out more.

Yip, get an OB and they'll have a good chat about it with you... Not sure many MW will be overly objective about it ...
