Hey! My GF and I have been recommended by many people that we should use an obstetrician rather than a midwife. Not quite sure where to start in terms of finding one!

It is a bit premature, but I like to be organised

We start IVF shortly, using my GF eggs and I will carry. Excited!

So just wondered if anyone has any personal experience using an obstetrician that they can recommend? We are on the North Shore, but central Aucks is totalyl ok for us too

Shore Birth is excellent - they have a team of obstetricians who are all very good :)
They generally have a first appointment at the 10 week mark, then once a month for the first bit, then every second week when things get closer, then once a week for the last few week. My sister used them for her two (natural drug-free) births, and I had them for my c-section birth (for me bubs was too big to get out the normal way!). While a lot of people see them as a waste of time, I think OBs are great as they are 'cheap' (compared with other costs) insurance in case something does go wrong with the birth and a natural birth isn't possible.

Wow wish you good luck.... IVF is really the best option to have a child. It is is demanding so much. I think it is a good decision.

I'd recommend the drs at Origins.... http://www.origins-obgyn.co.nz/

I used Dr Walker to investigate my miscarriages/d&c, my BFF has Dr Souter for her pregnancy and another good friend has Dr Beattie for her pregnancy. They do book up very quickly (they have an excellent reputation) so I would get on to it quickly! I am using a midwife for my pregnancy and finding her fantastic, every OB I have come across (including Dr Walker) has said to use her if/when I get pregnant, she is very good at liaising with specialists/referring me on if need be.
