Hi, I'm only 4 wks and 2 days pregnant and have had brown spotting since Sunday. It isn't heavy and have no cramps. Had HCG done on Monday which was 220 and will have this done again tomorrow. Hey Bubs2014, I've had brown spotting with both of my pregnancies, both times unexplained - likely just the development of the placenta / implantation, etc. If you have no cramps, clots or bright red blood you're likely fine. Its hard when you are so early and can't just pop in for a scan, but the bloods will give you a good indication - 200 at 4wks 2 days is pretty strong. Good luck for testing today, I had bloods done with my first for the same reason and so remember the anxiety of that 2 day wait! -------------

I had spotting between 5 and 7 weeks. Mostly brown but there was an occasion it was bright red. It turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma, which is a clot between the placenta and uterus. When I was diagnosed with it at 7 weeks, I was told by my doctor to put my feet up and no sex. It is so hard not to worry, but brown and no cramping is okay. Your hcg level is very good. Thanks. Just waiting for my results... Don't know what time they'll get them in, so not sure what time to ring up and ask. Had the test at 9. Feeling really down and just want to bury my head in the sand a bit as I cant imagine there can be any good news. Thanks NzVeggie. I have no idea. I haven't spoken to my doctor since the first HCG. Only been speaking to nurses. I have an appointment on Monday anyway because of the blood clot behind my leg so guess I'll get a better picture then. I guess the fact that they are slowing is good (in terms of my body sorting out a misarriage). Ugh. Bubs, I am sorry to hear your news. I think the HCG levels have to drop quite a way down for bleeding to start, but I'm not sure what level. I have been thinking of you and just came on here to see how everyone was doing. It is devastating to have to go through it all again. Personally, I would hold off on a scan until you know more about the levels, or there is no more spotting/bleeding. Simply because you are so early in your pregnancy and the likelihood of seeing anything promising at this stage is fairly low. It will only be a let down. If levels are still rising in a couple of weeks, then that might be a better time for a scan. Hi bubs, just been reading through your posts. I went through something very similar in sept 2012, keep getting your hcg monitored as mine turned out to be an ectopic (slow rising hcg levels are a sign of it). Generally a level of 400 won't be seen on a standard ultrasound, they say levels of 1000 are needed but some machines are super sensitive and may pick up something. In my case, my hormone levels started to recede after 2 1/2 weeks on their own, and I properly miscarried a week later. They were doing a "watch and wait" approach, due to my levels of hcg being low 250 from memory? They were going to do another scan before giving methotrexate to cause the miscarriage, however that last blood test was the one that my hormones started dropping on, so they just continued to monitor my levels until they dropped significantly. Went from bloods every 2 days and then a week later it was weekly blood tests until I was under 20. The miscarriage wasn't bad for me at all - they think mine was up near my ovary so apparently my body may have absorbed some of it? Just like a heavy period really. 4 days plus a few more days spotting, although I was only having light periods before conceiving. We were lucky to have the best case from a bad situation, avoiding surgery or the methotrexate that means you can't ttc for 6 months as it is a cancer treatment med. it was a really tough time, a real emotional roller coaster and the drawn out time it took meant it was hard to get "closure" from it until that last blood test. I felt like a real pincushion and my arm looked like a junkies for a while haha! But good things happened for us, we were pregnant again 9 months later and are due to meet our baby in a weeks time  ------------- http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">
