Hi all,

Just wanted to know how to tell if your baby is still breech. I had a scan last week at 36 weeks and sure enough my little chunky monkey was still head up. Hes been moving a bit but from what ive read if baby has turned i should have movements up high, ive never had movements up high, all down really low.

I have a hard lump at the top which im presuming its my monkeys head. I was told by a friend that the head is meant to be squishy and if pushed on it will move, but i read somewhere else that the head wont move.

Im booked in for a c section next wednesday but im so sick of reading about breeched babies and the possiblity of them turning.

What are the chances now that im already nearly 37 1/2 weeks pregnant that my baby will turn??? I was told very very unlikely.

I had a c sect at 39 weeks with my breech son. They should do a scan before hand to check if they are still breech. That's what they did to me.
I could feel his head move under my rib area and kick down below haha.

I just have a huge lump up top and get all my kicks down really low, never had rip kicks * touch wood* yea they said they will do the scan in the morning and then if hes turned then will cancel it but do you think its likely for him to turn? i mean hes been breech since like 16-17 weeks and hasnt turned at all. I also heard that i would feel it if he had turned cause it hurts like a bit*h lol

Hi Kylees,

Like you my Monkey was breech and stayed breech. I was told by a very relaxed midwife she would turn but she didn't. I was refered for her to be turned at the hospital, they tried but by the time they did she was stuck fast (first baby and not much room, by this stage 28.5 weeks). I read in a breech baby pamphlet at the hospital bout accumpuncture and so arranged this for a couple days later, this actually worked better than trying to turn her from the outside by pushing her round at the hospital-I could feel her trying to turn. But it was too late, she was stuck fast-ended up with a c sec, was healthy but had hip problems from being breech. What I'd do differently if it happened again was accupunture as early as poss (they put the needles in your feet so and is not dangerous). I'd also get exercises off a good midwife (on your knees head down) to try to get her to turn. Manual turning at hospital as early as poss. All the best xx

Well I had no idea my 1st was breech, as far as I knew, and from what everyone told me she was head 1st, but nope, she came out feet first naturally at 37weeks. And honestly id deliver that way again, found it way easier than head 1st birth of my 2nd daughter. All the best.

Hi Kyles666,

My boy was breech at 36weeks and turned just before 37 weeks. He was quite a small fella (7lb at 40+1) but when he turned it did hurt like all hell, the description you heard was certainly accurate for me!

Good luck with your birth, I hope (regardless of the type of birth) that it all goes smoothly for you.
