Hey, I just found out that I am around 6 weeks pregnant with my first baby EDD 23/12/2013.
My doctor told me to start looking for a midwife straight away, but I have no idea what to do, and no friends with babies that I can ask! How do you pick a midwife? who would you recommend in Hawkes Bay? etc etc! I would appreciate any help/recommendations if possible.
Thanks in advance,
Christine.

Hi and congrats. Are you in Napier or Hastings?? A good one in Napier (also my current midwife) is Barb Penny. I work at the hospital and a lot of nurses and doctors go with barb. She has been around for a while and has a good name. She does fill up fast though.
Other ones that I have heard good things about are rebecca ritchie, liezel venter, annie price and donna foote. Maybe you could make apps with a few and see which one you like the most. Did your GP gives you a list of names?
Good luck

I'm in Hastings. My doctor gave me a list of four, Donna Foote, Claire Brogan, Kay Crozier and Riz Latiff.
I guess its because its all sorta new, and terrifying, I'm feeling overwhelmed lol. I shall contact a few next week and see what happens.
Thanks Snabies
