I have my MIL staying with us at the moment for 6 weeks, eeks, things have been up and down so far but we're all trying to get along nicely.
BUT I am six months pregnant and the other night she asked me how much bigger I was going to get as I was already looking like I was 9 months??????? like i have a crystal ball or have control over the size of my belly, I've only put on 2kgs since getting pregnant and have on and off morning sickness all the time. But I find these comments extremely offensive, its my second baby so things are going to pop a little more this time round, the ironic thing is I'm smaller than I was at this stage last time.
am I being over sensitive HAHA being pregnant and all.

No you're not overreacting, your MIL is being rude! People can be so rude can't they, I hate it when people comment on pregnant women's size!

Not over reacting at all! Hugs to you! Try and ignore comments like that or think of a nice comeback to comments like this!

I agree with the other ladies, you are not over-reacting. If it happens again I would tell her that the comment upsets you and that as long as you and bub are healthy and your MW is happy then your pregnancy will progress as it chooses in the best way for you both OR I would probably just walk away without saying a thing. Don't let her get to you and perhaps your DH can have a quiet word to her on the side.

Disco, I have to agree with the ladies above. I have learnt that when you are pregnant there are only two opinions that matter yours and your midwifes. As hard as it is, you need to just brush off any one else's opinions. My response to people who commented on my size (and I have never thought I was particularly big) is that my midwife is really happy with me and with baby and that is all that matters. I found the comments eventually stopped.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

thank you everyone, I feel a bit better about it now. I think i was just gobsmacked but then I shouldn't be as she often doesn't think about what comes out of her mouth. I've been waiting for her to bring it up again so I could say something to nip it in the bud but it hasn't happened. Two weeks to go before she's goes home. I can't wait!! no doubt she'll be going home and telling everyone how massive she thinks I am, but who cares, as long as we're both healthy.
Funny thing is she's put on weight, but at least my belly has a baby inside it.
