Arrrr the two that have been recommended to me are both unavailable and now I don't know what to do.
Please post your recomendations if you had a great midwife but I would also really like to hear if you have had a bad experience so I know who to avoid!
Thanks in advance

Who were the 2 previously suggested? Im in Rotorua too. :D For my DS I had Helen Bakker she was amazing but has since moved so I'm a bit lost as to who to have this time round.
I've heard Nita and Dinnie (spelling sorry - dinny maybe) are great. :D

Haha, funny you should say that, those are the two!!!
Dinie works with another lady named Katinka who I have contacted and have a meet and greet with on Monday.

They must be good :D Glad you've found one though. Once I've had my dating scan I'll look into getting a midwife. Is this your first?

Yep, first after a looooong time trying! Apparently Katinka and Dinie work in job share so I should have some appointments with her too and whichever one is on call is who is at the birth.
When is your scan? I am having one on Monday.

Oh exciting for you thats awesome :D You must be so pleased. When are you due? (sorry if it says it on all your abbrviations i struggle to understand them lol).
My scans on Tuesday. I'm so excited and curious when I'm due (its my dating scan). Hope it doesn't clash too much with DS birthday lol.

Yes we are very pleased. My signature doesn't say when we are due, it just says that we have had four embryo transfers and this one was successful.
Our scan on Monday is our dating scan too but I think I am due around the 5th October. How about you?

Yes, tiny wee town that it is. Wouldn't surprise me if we knew each other already!
When you had your last baby did you have a coffee group? I've always wondered how Mums meet each other when preggy....is it ante natal class or something? I would be keen to meet up with some other preggy people.
|

Hey, my DH and I went to antenatal group and a coffee group formed from there. We don't catch up anymore but did for the year following our bubbas being born.
You could also join parent centre (who does antenatal classes) and they do a few good courses that are good to go to after bubs in born.
Also plunket run some good courses for mums too :)
Also on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the library the have rhyme and rumpus which is where they sing songs, read books and do crafty stuff. I took Harry there fron newborn - even tho he couldnt join in was a nice atmosphere.
I don't really have any other friends in Rotorua who have children but if you'd like to catch up for coffee sometime I'd love to (if thats not too forward). :D
Hope you're having a nice weekend and enjoying the sunshine
Helen :D

Hi Helen,
I would love to but would be keen to leave it until I am 12 weeks if that is ok. I am still really nervous that things may not work out.
I will PM you my details and maybe we could chat on facebook for a start if you are on it. If that is not too forward!! :)

Just seen this thread - home last night with my 5-day-old.
My midwife is Juliette Robinson and she is awesome! She has 4 teen sons of her own but is very youthful and fun to be around. I ended up needing an elective c-section (found to be breech on Tuesday) and she was so supportive.
Another good one is Frances Kissling, she was my first choice but unavailable. She recomended Juliette to me. A friend had Frances and sings her praises.
Another two friends have had Graham Ryan, one ended up being very prem (30 weeks I think) and she couldn't fault him.
Good luck in your search and congratulations.
PS there's a midwife who was on the front of the Daily Post a few weeks ago for being responsible for a baby's death. Can't remember her name but I remember her inititals were PP, or at least her first name was.

Thanks kiwiking for your recommendations and congratulations!!
The one in the paper was pricilla punita. I won't be going near her i'm afraid.
I had an appointment with Katinka Heunder this morning, she job shares with Dinie Brady. She was lovely! So knowledgable and nice so I have made a tentative booking with them, all going well!
They have more space too Helen if you are still looking.

Yay Helen! Do you hear the heartbeat or see it when you scan here? We had ours at the fertility clinic and we could only see ours but I have to have another one tomorrow at lakes with a full bladder like you. Not looking forward to drinking all that water either!

Hi Ladies...
Wow - first time on here and so rapt to see some people from Rotorua!!
Just found out we are pregnant with our first...estimated due date according to doctor today is 26 Oct. Only just over 4 weeks and am pretty nervous about it - really hope everything goes well.
My doctor gave me the list of mid wives today but I think I will wait - the names you mention are the same I have been recommended. I wonder if I get in touch tentatively this week they will be able to fit me in. Seems the good ones get booked up pretty quick!
Anyway thought I would say hi - who knows...maybe we will all cross paths along the way.
Massive congrats on the twins!!! Exciting!

Been trying for about 14 months.... I am super nervous and trying not to get too excited until we at least see a heartbeat at the first scan! Still two weeks away!!!!
Yeah, sounds like a great idea. Have another friend that may be interested too - she is due in August.
I am def keen - but will wait till a wee bit further along just in case.
Fingers crossed for each of us!!!

Hey Rachel,
How did your scan go? What sort of twins are they?
My brother in law and his wife just found out they are having non identical (dunno the technical term sorry).
Ahhhh I'm sooooo over this morning sickness - i didnt have any with Harry!! I have to stand all day on this muggy heat so its been heaps worse. Not that I'm complaining. Getting really excited bout our little Jelly bean :D
Anyway sorry that went on a bit.
Hope all is well :D

Hi Helen,
We are having identical twins! We thought that we would be as we only had one embryo replaced in our IVF cycle. The scan was also to check that they didnt share a sac and they don't which is great news!
I feel really sorry for you with your morning sickness! Hopefully it will be gone soon and you can get back to enjoying being pregnant again!
