We are in the beginings of potty training - going well so far (1 week) and fingers crossed it continues.
At the moment he's using a potty in the lounge, we put it in the corner. Sometimes he's busy and he runs to the corner to use it. Sometimes he carries it around an sits on it where ever he is playing.
He goes to daycare and uses the toilets there, but they are the short kid ones.
At home we have a steplader & insert all-in-one so he can climb up and use it himself, but he doesn't like the one at home.
We also have a small seat insert that we could use, but we'd have to lift him up to it.
My question is, how/when did others move from the lounge potty to the toilet?

I've opted for straight onto the toilet with the little seat insert thing and a stool, which has been working pretty well (we are 1 week in too!)
But my mum started with a potty when we were kids and suggested just slowly moving it closer and closer to the bathroom - "today we are putting the potty in the hallway, and when you want to use it, you need to run from the lounge to the hallway. that'll be fun!" or something?
Once you've got him going on the potty in the bathroom, then work on moving to the toilet?

We used the potty for a couple of months till he was regularly using it. Then one day we played on the loo, practising climbing on and off. DS is tiny so its a bit of a climb.
To start with he would only do it in clothes, then he was happy to do it with no pants. I made a big deal about it and got DH to be over the moon when he got home from work.
Then to get him to go on the toilet I made a big deal about the sounds ones and twos made. Of course now he sits there and says "its just a quiet wee today mummy".
We've been using the loo for a fortnight now, but I still have the potty in the lounge if he wants to use it. Generally though he happily progressed to the loo.
