Hi
I am Mika, I registered with OH Baby a couple of years ago, in the hopes of getting pregnant, but never got pregnant and never got chatting.

I have however recently found out I am 5 weeks pregnant after a few years of TTC.

I am not looking for a good recommended midwife on the North Shore any suggestions?

Try Diane Hirst. I used her for a pregnancy but not a birth (miscarried) - she was lovely though and I've heard good things about her from people who've delivered with her.

Their practice is in Albany near the mall.

If you don't mind driving to Orewa then I would suggest Kathy Fray. She has written a series of books and is very good - I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and have been high risk due to IC and have found her to be really great. She is a bit of a hippie though... will have you on a load of herbs and doing hypobirthing by the end, I think thats nice though - rather than just pushing the medicated options because it makes like easier for them!

I HIGHLY recommend Shore Birth!!! Not only did they investigate my multiple miscarriages, but they found a reason, solved it and we had a baby! They are absolutley amazing and from what you have said about tryign for a while to have a baby, you might be like us and not mind spending a bit to have very specialist care.

I would also recommend Kate Sheppard Midwives - all of them are great and there is a fabulous obstrician Paul Henderson there if you need to do shared care.

Personally I think Midwives do a great job but after so many years waiting I felt I really wanted an Ob too!
