i had my daughter in middlemore just over 2 years ago - i had a fabulous experience and wouldn't hesitate to go back. I was on shared care so didnt have a dedicated midwife and the ladies that delivered my baby were outstanding!

I have had both my babies at MM - one a VB, one an ELCS and I loved my aftercare both times. It was wonderful - they are so attentive, it was clean, and I just loved it.
One night they even took my baby into the office for a couple of hours so I could get some decent sleep - I know this is reasonably common practice in small maternity units, but I had never heard of it happening in a hospital - I was so grateful!!

I had DD at MM over xmas last year (induced on xmas eve) I found it great! I ended up with a CS and spent 2 nights there before going to Birthcare. The nurses were great but a bit stretched at night.
If are curious they do a tour of the facilities every monday evening, I think you just need to ring and book a spot.

I birthed at Middlemore in Oct last year, was there 3 days beforehand and back a week later for mastitis, had no problems whatsoever, awesome midwives for the labour and birth, had 3 different ones and each was nice, attentive and made me feel at ease. Food wasnt as good as the birthing unit but was ok and tea/coffee and milo lady came around regular and you are able to make your own too - thats if you are there long enough of course
You dont need to book for the tours, just rock up at 6pm at entrance to the maternity unit
