Has anyone been to this before?
I'm thinking of going on the first day (next Friday) with my parents who are here from the UK (they fly back on the Saturday).
Is it worth going? Do they have some good deals?
This will be the last opportunity (except maybe Sat am) for my parents to do baby shopping. They want to contribute with something like a cot.

I have friends that went (mainly to buy their pram) and they found it really good, they are going back this year for another look now that they have an older child (nearly 2) to cater for..
I'm going cause I'd quite like a deal on a Manduca and to cnofuse myself a lil more on the nappy bags - there are waaaay too many to choose from
Dragging mum & my sister with me so they can a) carry stuff and b) make sure I dont buy stuff thats not needed

I went last year when I was pregnant and found it quite good - mostly for the goodie bags with magazine subscriptions! There is lots to look at and you might find a good deal on a cot too. Plus if you are interested in cloth nappies that might be the ideal time to find them - your parents may be able to help with the set up costs there as well

I went when i was pregnant with ds1 and they had awsome deals on prams and alsorts of stuff, only we didnt go with much money in our pockets, the next year we went i was preg with ds2 and we went with money to spend and they didnt have near as much as the previous year so i havent been again since, but with all the wraps and slings and natural parenting stuff that interests me I am looking at going again this yr. you get a lot of freebies from all the nappy places which is nice.

Just to thread Highjack - if we aim to be parking at 9.30 to get in line early (and have pre-brought tickets) is that early enough??

Is it good to go just to have a look at different options even taking no money? I'm not ready to buy the big items yet but i was hoping that it was ganna be a good place to check whats available and decide what i want.

I worked at it last year on all days. And (hopefully this won't make the opposite come true) but it was packed every morning. Queues outside, buggy jams inside. I think everyone thought if they went early they would miss the madness - but that was what made it busy.
But by the afternoon - around 2pm or later on each day - it was quiet again. And on the Sunday by that time it was almost dead. Plus lots of the places were giving away even more deals at that point on the sunday to get rid of stock they had - although I guess if you leave it that late you risk losing out on other stuff?

Hmm quiet time in the afternoon (i can see EVERYONE thinking they need to 'get in early') Might be a better plan to head in early afternoon then!
Thanks gemtwinkle

Well mum and dad both seem to agree to the 3 hour drive each way - and considering it's the day before they start a 36 hour journey back to the UK is amazing!
If we don't end up buying anything then we still have the following morning with another look in the Baby Factory/Farmers etc.
Took them to the BF this morning and we all nearly died when we saw that the most expensive buggy was almost as much as my car!
We'll be going on the Friday, arriving around mid morning ish.

I'd strongly recommend a look at Baby City in either Auckland (in Botany maybe) or Tauranga before you buy too much here, I've found a MUCH better variety of stuff - have brought Hardly anything for bubs locally which is just a pain TBH!

If anyone goes on the friday would be cool if they could report back how busy it is when they go. I had told me everyone to be ready and waiting by 9.30 to go but now that you say that gemtwinkle i think most parents with kids are morning people so would prob go in the mornings. I might opt for the avo now

Has anyone been this morning? Thinking of going this afternoon but with morning sickness and a toddler it will require a lot of effort :)

I got spoiled! Didn't find a cot or stroller but did get some itti bitti tutto nappies, a nappy bag, lots of toys, cot blankets, rock a bye baby cds and a little treasures subscription.
Saw lots of other things I wanted but couldn't justify spending money on.
We were there from 11am to 1pm and I thought it looked like it was thinning out a little by then. But it was jamp packed with pushchairs (my dad got his ankle clipped a couple of time).

Glad you got spoiled kiwiking Yay for the tuttos, we got some too.
Agree that there weren't as many samples this year, and some of the bigger companies seemed to be missing - no watties or other food people in particular. Still some good bargins to be had though, would go again if we have another pregnancy/small but to buy for.
We went in the afternoon. Was quite busy at 1pm - but we still got parking in the main park and by 3pm it had really started to thin out.

I decided it's the place to buy a baby monitor, if you need one. Some very good specials on them!
I was surprised at the little things you could pick up a lot cheaper than usual, I hadn't really thought about that - dummies for $3 a pack rather than $8, things like that.
And someone is making a killing with those address stickers - but man, what a good idea! Jacob HATES me standing round filling in forms, took all the hassle out of it.

I went with sil and brother who are exPecting their firs andthey bought up large!! A pram, portacot, cot, blankets, monitors, sleeping bags..... I was exhausted watching them shop but they had done their homework and came armed with lists and prices of stuff elsewhere... Good deals on both big ticket items and like hopes said little ticket items too
I bought heaps of littler things like dummies, bottles etc and had so much fun! It was buggy jam but everyone was very polite and considerate so didn't really notice, mind you we didn't take a buggy so maybe we just didn't notice it as much.
Ifyou signed up for facebook pages etc their were lots of giveaways and I mentioned somewhere along the way that I had a toddler at home AND pregnant and so got stuff for both, really wasn't expecting that so that was nice.

I thought it was strange that there were no formula companies this year.
