I've got an eight week old baby and here are a couple of tips from me, stuff that I forgot:
- If you're going to buy loads of cool singlets and stuff to go on top, remember to buy pants. Babies have legs. - Babies grow quick, and don't actually need 47464423 newborn sized nappies. - Breastfeeding doesn't always work out the way we (I) want it to. Keep some money aside to buy bottles, sterilizing equipment etc incase you need to formula or mix feed. That stuff can get expensive. And if you don't, get yourself a treat! - Make and freeze as many meals as you can now. I know it sucks to do anything when you're pregnant, but there is NO time once you've had bub. That's all for now. I'm a single mum so the meal thing might not apply to the ones with lovely hubbies :) |

My tip: Don't overpack your labour bag. I swear I didn't use 80-90% of the things I packed and it just made it harder to find the things I did need. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

| Be prepare to have to buy clothes in a hurry. My first son was 5 pounds born (full term) and none of the clothes fitted him. It was also coming into winter and he had no fat layer so we had to try and keep him warm. Nurses at the hospital had him in hat and cardy which he swam in untill we could get to the shops for 000 clothes. He looked so funny lol |

Totally agree!!! You should of seen the amount of stuff i had. I think the only really useful things that I used while in labour were my water bottle and this wooden back massage thingy! And after i had her i really only used camera, phone + charger, lots of undies and clothes for myself. the rest was pointless and took up so much room! ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

Meals in the freezer are great for Mum and Dad, he wasn't getting much sleep either and Hells Pizza made a lot of money out of us in those first few weeks.
DD was 5 pounds full term as well and I only had one premie sized aio that fit her, everything else swam on her. lanolin nipple cream the one you don't need to take off, regardless of how you plan to feed they will get sore and cracked in the first couple of weeks. ------------- http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">   [/url] Angel June 2012 |

But on the other hand, the stuff I used was all the 'random' stuff that I never really expected to and had in there 'just in case'. Like magazines (I thought while packing them, who really reads while in labour??, but it was great to have something light to pick up between contractions early on) and jellybeans (everyone had said you never eat in labour... I must have been one of the randoms who does). -------------

also packed way too much, if the next is a hospital birth (not planning on it) i will just have clothes for baby to go home in something for me to get into after the birth both pj's and normal clothes, pack of granny pants, Pads, Camera and all its bits.
