Hi there,

I'm 39+ weeks and desperate to get baby moving. He's happy and healthy but I am experiencing excruciating pelvic pain and I can't even contemplate the thought of going past due date.

So far Im trying:
  • Raspberry leaf tea
  • Walking up steps sideways
  • Long walks
  • Pineapple juice
  • Curries

Much to my darling husband's dismay sex isn't really an option due to the pain. Anyone else got any ideas?

Thanks

Hi- I feel your pain- almost 39 weeks here too. Has your mw offered to do a sweep of your cervix? That might help move things along or acupuncture?

Having had a very overdue baby before I'm now of the belief that they generally come when they are ready unless they are stuck. It won't be long now

Hey there, I had really bad pelvic pain and sciatica with my 1st, so I feel your pain too, but walking up stairs sideways is not going to help with the pelvic pain :( I did lots of walking in the 39th week and that week my waters broke! GL!

Start doing something that you couldn't possibly stop doing until its finished...Murphies law says baby will come in the middle of it (painting room etc)

I had horrible SPD with #2 so feel your pain. What about acupuncture? Had my appt at lunchtime on friday and he arrived early hours of saturday morning. In saying that I was already having contractions but y'never know it could help! GL hun its never fun being in that amount of pain xx

I'd be really careful about not doing anything like the sideways up stairs thing that will aggravate your pelvis. Because like it or not, baby will come when s/he's ready, not when you are (it's just the first of many times they'll defy your wishes, trust me ).

So try things like accupuncture that won't make it any worse, but otherwise, just rest and take it easy on yourself and your pelvis as much as you can. You'll appreciate having had the rest once bub is here.

im the same as TheKelly- went 13 days over in january in marlborough 30 degree + heat was awful!..also had SPD (and still do 8 months on...gah!) we tried everything- sex, pineapple ( yes, i got so desperate i ate an entire pineapple in one go lol...ahhh the things you do...) walked until my legs nearly gave out, curry, and 3 stretch and sweeps...other than MANY false starts it all did nothing. we went to the hospital when i was 12 days over to get induced, found out just as the MW was doing my internal to get ready to induce, "oh your 4cm, no induction for you, go home and rest up and ill see ya later!" she says- and the next morning my bubba was here! i think the threat of induction scared the poor thing out lol. but yeah...no matter what you do, if bubs doesnt want to come, it just wont! i know its horrible and youre in pain and just want to bawl your eyes out (like i did infront of my MW a few times- so dont be afraid to do that! ) but it will pass and youll have your baby in your arms soon- and all this pain and discomfort will be a distant memory good luck hun on the birth of your beautiful bubba

why don't you see if you can be induced early? I know alot of people are scared of the idea but with my 12 year old, I organised to be induced at 41 weeks for work commitment with hubby (latter on he couldn't be there). As it was they said his placenta had started to break down and he needed oxygen for half an hour because of it. So it was just as well I didn't wait. I don't think he would have come otherwise.
If you are in that much pain maybe they will induce on your due date? For me all I needed was some cream on my cervix and about 1 hour later it was all go.
Good luck.

Well um, another trick no-one has suggested and may or may not suit is orgasm, with or without hubby. GL

Thanks everyone. My midwife is adamant she won't do anything to try and induce until 10 days post due date but we'll see!

I tried everything...nothing worked,MW wouldn't induce me till over ten days as well,on the day of my induction Mila had started things off herself,so I just got my waters broken in the end and had a very easy quick birth (to make up for going overdue I think )
Goodluck, hope its not too much longer for you !
