Hi all

I am new to this forum but would like to hear if anyone has succeeeded in conceving after their hubby/partner was treated for prostatitis.

My hubby is finishing a course of antibiotics after we finally found out why we weren't conceiving after a year of trying. Wish we'd known sooner!

Anyone else had any similar situations??

all good - it's an infection in the prostate gland. It's quite common and my hubby didn't even know anything was wrong. No pain or anything. The function of the prostate is to produce fluid and enzymes that contribute to the semen and are needed for male fertility - just glad we have sorted it now. Hoping the antibiotics work!

How did he know he had it? did it show up through a blood test? Hoping the antibiotics work and you get a BFP soon! xo

We had been trying for about 15 months and were referred to Fertility Associates by our doc. Hubby had to do a semen sample there and they found his semen to have low motility and there wasn't much "liquid". The scientists at Fert. Assoc. found that he had a bacterial infection from the sample. The specialist checked him out "physically" and found he was fine - apart from the semen sample of course. Goes to show things can show up when you feel you are fine. I have been checked and I'm all good.

Hubby is a non-smoker, barely drinks alcohol, is an ideal weight, is active and eats well, so we aren't sure why he has/had it. It's a bacterial prostatitis infection so can be cleared. I just hope the antibiotics work!!
