okay so I am carring extra so wanted to be careful how much I put on with this pregnancy. My last son I was good and by the time he was a week old I was back to my pre preg weight.

I have a chart that gives me an idea of what is a good amount every 2 weeks and have been very careful with my diet as well as occasional swimming and cross trainer.

This morning I have found I have lost 2 kg!! I have not been very sick so it is not from lack of eating.

I am not terribly worried because it is early days but has anyone else found this?

It is perfectly normal to loose weight in the first trimester. They start worrying about weight in the second and third trimesters - the third especially.

I am overweight and have been told that they would like it if I put on no weight through this pregnancy - so 25 weeks down and I weight exactly the same as my pre-pregnancy weight. Some weeks I am a kilo lighter, some weeks a kilo heavier. It fluctuates a little.

I wouldn't worry about it at this point. If you continue to loose large amounts of weight then talk to your MW but a few kilos here or there isn't that drastic unless you were underweight to begin with.

so you weigh the same now as when you started/ That is actually my goal too. My MW said she doesn't mind if I put none. Good to know it is possible

To be honest I have not done anything different. Not exercising at all, and I ate better before I got pregnant! For some reason my metabolism loves pregnancy. I dont think I could put on heaps of weight even if I tried!

I was really sick with most of my first and I put on alot. I have never lost it no matter what I tried. I am not eating healthier but maybe smaller meals more often and oviously no tea, coffee and alcohol possibly helps too. Not that I was a heavy drinker.

I think it varies from person to person... My first ever pregnancy I was 59kg when we conceived and by 11 weeks I was 48kg from morning sickness. I was very sick and had a useless doctor.

Anyway, with DD, I lost 4kg in the first trimester (wasn't as sick) and gained 16kg all up - inc the 4 I lost. But 6kg of that was baby.

Your MW will advise you, or should do. I was quite worried about losing weight but she said it was fine.

I lost 3kg during the first trimester, and have just put it back on now - as long as you are feeding your body as you need to you'll be fine.

I've conciously chosen to eat fruit when I'm snacking rather than biscuits or lollies, I think that is helping HEAPS.

I usually have a slow metabolism but I am having alot more smaller meals to keep MS at bay. I am not really worried about it because I can afford to loose some. Was more interested to see if other people experienced the same thng.

I lost 3kg fairly early on I think, not due to throwing up (I've only thrown up a total of 6 times the whole pregnancy so far) but my appetite was NIL! I was eating only little bits of whatever (usually fruit was all I felt like nibbling on) but still doing my usual physical job etc so I just lost it there easily.

I've yet to gain any of it back and I'm 25 weeks along tomorrow... lol! Mine can fluctuate by a kg in either direction, but in general I'm sitting at that same weight still.

And yup, I am seriously overweight so I'm not actually worried about having gained nothing so far. Bub is growing (sheesh! is it growing!!) and is kicking strongly now so I KNOW all is well in there, the weight it's putting on is obviously being countered by the weight I must be loosing on my own body; which is fine by me! I imagine that all the food I'm eating is going to baby, and my fat is feeding me. lol!!!

I'm still eating much smaller and more frequent meals than I was before getting pregnant, so I think my metabolism has sped up with the extra blood-flow as well as the eating I'm doing (almost constantly)! At this rate I'm almost excited to see what I weigh after bub is born; I might have actually lost weight! lol Still got all of the third tri to gain plenty in though, so we'll see. :)

I was the same, I lost about 5kg at the beginning of my pregnancy. I am now 36 weeks and only 2kg heavier than pre preg. I spoke to midwife as I was worried but she's not at all, said that baby is just a good diet for me Midwife weighs me each visit but I think she does it to keep me happy rather than her! lol

So many mums complain about the weight they gain during pregnancy so just enjoy the fact the you are one of the lucky ones who hasn't

I'm the opposite! I exercise at least 4 x a week (1 1/2 hours swimming, 1 hr spin class) but I've put on 3kg since conception!

I've been finding it hard to eat well, I don't think I'm eating as much as I should (I can eat a lot mid morning then not feel like anything until dinner).

I think I'll start a food diary to make sure i'm getting enough nutrients (I cook dinner from scratch and eat plenty of veg and not very many processed foods).

I wasn't hoping to lose weight but not put on as much as I fear I could.

this this your first kiwiking? My first I was really sick and put on alot but my diet was crap and I never worried about my weight.
With my second I put on just enough but was almost back to my pre preg weight by the time he was born.

Interesting to hear how many women don't put much on. Hopefully I will be one of them.

Yep this is my first but I've always battled with my weight. I have to be really strict on what I eat and exercise like a lunatic to lose anything usually. My metabolism is screwed because I was so restrictive.

I have an irrational fear of gaining too much, I used to be 96kg. At one stage I was 65kg but ballooned up to 79kg when I did my Ironman tri (funny you can train so much and eat reasonably well but not lose any weight!).
The weight crept up to 80kg when we conceived, weighed myself this morning and I was 83.8kg (though I think Dominos pizza yesterday didn't help).

I lost 1.5kg between weeks 5-6, because I wasn't eating much, and anything that I did eat came straight back up.

I was actively trying to lose weight before finding out I was UTD (lost 11.5kg). Since then I've lost another 3kg (and this is with trying to maintain my weight!). I'm not upset as I am still overweight (though as of this morning I'm only 5kg above the top of my healthy BMI range). I know the trend will reverse soon enough anyway, lol! I'm hoping that full-term I won't be any heavier than I was when I started trying to lose weight (which still isn't as much as my highest ever non-preggy weight).

I've done this with 2 of my pregnancies, so don't worry too much! First one, I wasn't weighing myself but my wedding dress was a bloody tight fit at 6 weeks, then at 14 weeks it fitted perfectly, even with the baby bump.

This time I've lost 2.5 kilos and am only 7 1/2 weeks along, even though I've been eating HEAPS more than usual.

So yea I'd say it's pretty normal Enjoy it now, it won't last hehehe

I was at a 'normal' weight and lost weight until 15 odd weeks then stayed at my pre-preg weight until 22 ish weeks then started piling on the weight, gaining 20+kg in that final part there. Not that you're going to gain heaps of weight, thats probably just me - just saying its normal to not gain or even lose weight in the early days.

i have always lost weight during the 1st 20wks of all my pregnancies with my 1st i lost 10kg, 2nd i lost 5kg, 3rd 5kg again, with my 4th i lost 10kg, all wit out any morning sickness. next time I am hoping to put on minimal weight as I am already quite over weight, I wont be doing anything other than eating healthy and getting simple exercise but I find that alone while i am pregnany works, its when i decide i cant be bothered the weight piles back on.
