Hi ladies,
thought I would start up an older mums to be thread, as sounds like there is a few of us around at the moment, yay!
Abit about me, I just turned 41 last week (still only feel 25)!lol... DH is 41 as well. This is our first baby, we are so excited and feel so lucky to get here finally.
We had been TTC for nearly 3 years and had tried clomid, IUI and did 5 cycles of IVF, which didn't work. We had unexplained infertility! So we decided to have a break from things and started planning our overseas holiday which we had been putting off for the past two years then got such a shock when found out I was pregnant naturally!!
So looking forward to the whole journey!!

Congrats on your baby - you must be very excited!
I am also an 'older' mum, although like you I don't feel my age most of the time. I am currently 41, although will be 42 when baby is born.
Am also in Auckland so happy to catchup and chat if you want.

Hi ladies, yeah I still feel like I'm 30 but maybe a bit wiser. I'm PG with our 2nd, which was a bit of a surprise, took a few weeks or more to sink in, thought I would have a crack as the odds just seem to get worse each year, but wasn't really expecting it to happen quite so easily if at all really. So all good and I like the age gap between, will be just over 3yrs. I'm... gosh what am I??.. I'm 42 now, 43 in Oct, bubs is due on 22 Dec.
My mum was an older mum and she was the best so had no qualms waiting until I was ready.

Choco69, not long till October! Hey we are off to the UK/Europe for a month's holiday in 3 weeks, cant wait.. How about a catch up when I'm back, end of Aug? Sounds like you are quite busy too the next month, so might work out better?

Had my results back from my NT scan today. They were excellent for my age - 1 in 1100, so happy with that. Wasn't stressing about it, but still it niggles at you.
Starting to feel a little pregnant now, ADS has gone and tiredness is slowing down, energy returning, roll on 2nd trimester!

I am not sure if I quite qualify as an older mum. I will be 38 just after this one is born. I am due 17th of Feb.
I am having the 12 week NT scan mid august. I am a bit nervous about it but don't really believe it will be an issue. Will just be nice to see Sam (bubs name) for the first time. DH is 47 and our kids are all over. I never expected to suddenly decide 6 months ago to try one last time for a girl. I had never realised how much I still wanted a daughter.

Hi girls
I am 38 now but will be 39 when our first baby is born in Jan next year. We have been trying since August 09 and in that time I have had 3 miscarriags. I had started to wonder if I just wasn't mean't to be a Mum But here I am, pregnancy number 4 and all is going well so far! I am still very nervous that it could all get taken away from me....but trying hard to be positive and picture our baby in my arms.
Congrats to the other 'older' (but not that old!) Mum's - such an exciting time

I am 40 now and 9wks 4d pregnant with no 2. Our little boy is 4 1/2. I'm a little worried about the age thing, though like many of you feel much younger. I have my 13 week scan booked for 25 July. Hopefully I'll be able to relax after that.

I have spoken to many people about this and there are a lot more older mums out there these days too and the common consensus is that it has more to do with your health and wellbeing and less to do with your age. So don't let the worry get to you, put it out of your head as much as poss, hey we've beaten the odds this far haven't we!

Compared to most of the mums around where I live, I am definitely geriatric! I will be 37 when Baby2 arrives. Although advanced age is a risk factor for many pregnancy events/outcomes, I agree that what's more important is individual health. Personally, I'm counting on good genetics - there's many women in my family who were/are successfully popping out babies into their 40s.

Welcome everyone, how are all your energy levels, I have been so exhausted this time round, didn't really put it down to 'old age' as I was in such a good space healthwise before, but maybe with a toddler to run around after as well I have to admit it could be a little bit of the age thing, oh well, I'm getting past that stage now so feeling more energetic and taking natural iron regularly now. Original bloodtests didn't show any lack of iron, but I'm not really trusting those anymore, I'm sure they got it wrong!

Its Floradix, you can pick up at a pharmacy or health food shop, but the cheapest is the supermarket. Its in liquid form, not tablets and doesn't taste too bad with a bit of water, even my fussy 2yr old will drink it, and no worries with constipation, plus it has a lot of other goodies in it too, all natural. Your MW will prob know about it.

I'm really looking forward to anatomy scan, but MW would like me to wait until 21-22wks, she said its a clearer scan and I guess I can wait but thats now 6wks away, when some are getting theirs done at 18wks, oh well, its all about the bubs not me, but I really can't wait to find out the sex, last time you could have knocked us down with a feather we were so sure it was the opposite. All fun and games! lol
Happygal, if you are tired you have to listen to that and look after yourself, it seems like such a hard thing for us to do, much harder than taking a pill, but when you think how far you have come to get here, hugely important. I've caught up on a lot of books, lol

That sounds wonderful and so much harder after they arrive, so enjoy the babymoon, my only advice is to schedule in some spa time, lay by the pool time, room service in bed with sky movie time and oh did I mention spa time! in between your tourist activities, you will feel all the better for it. Oh and suss out some of those beautiful baby shops to visit on google first so you know where to look.
Gosh, sorry.. got carried away, thought it was me going for a minute, lol

am so jealous - I want a babymoon too! - the closest I will get is a long weekend at my parents friend's bach - but it will be nice to have wintery walks along the beach so really shouldn't complain
am excited that you are all progressing nicely to your NT scans - I remember mine I was soooo nervous and excited at the same time
as for anatomy scan - i had mine exactly at 20 weeks - although I know people who had them earlier too
I have another scan next week at almost 28 weeks to check growth - my belly is measuring 4 weeks ahead - also have the 2 hours GTT to do the same day (not happy about the fasting bit) - so will know by the end of next week how much of my belly is me and how much is my bubs - can't wait to see her again!

I rang in sick to work today, looking forward to a day at home!
So are you less tired in the 2nd trimester girls? Does MS go away abit??
Hey Choco69, things are moving along for you, 28 weeks, not long to go!! I must admit I am feeling abit nervous about the scan next Friday, sometimes feel its all too good to be true!!

I was lurking in on another forum and read that Happygals scan went well and I think she took off on holiday the w/e just gone or today.
Hi Anabee, nice to hear about your anatomy scan, can't wait for mine, MW is making me wait until 21wks but thats ok, things will be a little clearer then and I really want to find out if its 'pink or blue'. For some reason this bub still feels a little unreal, hopefully when we get the next scan it might not seem so surreal.
My MS has totally gone now and so has my exhaustion, in fact have got out gardening today for the first time since becoming PG, had noooo motivation or energy before now, but feeling good, will probably feel it tomorrow though!! lol Good to have the old mojo back

Got all my results from my NT scan and blood tests. Whew low risk so no more tests required. Now I can enjoy being pregnant. Hope everyone else is doing well. Anatomy scan not for about 6 weeks, but the radiographer thinks it's likely to be a girl based on what she can see.

Hi guys. My NT scan is this friday. One day off 12 weeks but can already hear the heart beat on a doppler so that is positive. Was so much younger with my other kids never had to worry about DS. It never even crossed my mind. Not that I think there is a problem this time but I am a little nervous.
We are going away early Oct to rarotonga with the boys. We were there at easter for 5 days with out the kids. Working 7 days a week and being a full time mum is really wearing me down this time.
On a positive note the last 3-4 days I have started to sleep better at night so I am not quite so exhausted during the day. It got to the point I wouldn't drive anywhere in the afternoons because of fatigue.

Congrats on the NT scans, even though we try to think positive, that doubt creeps in. GL Cinderella. I just felt relief at hearing the heartbeat, as that was the first time. Apparently I'm anterior, which for those who don't know (I didn't!) means placenta in front, baby behind = can't feel any kicks, still can't, although have felt just a couple of movements, thats it, so hearing that heartbeat every 4wks is reassuring. I was never this worried the first time round, don't really know why now, probably hearing other peoples stories online. Sometimes too much knowlege is a bad thing, lol.
My anatomy scan is booked for the 11th, can't wait, hope all is ok and I get to see which 'flavour' we have

glad to hear that everyone's pregnancies are still going well
I have my 32wk scan also on the 11th - am hoping my wee girl will let us get a photo of her face this time
Am starting to come to grips with the idea that baby has to come out at some stage - think because i was so focussed on getting pregnant and then staying pregnant I haven't given too much thought to birth and after
looking forward to moving house next week cos then I will be able to set up baby's room and hopefully the nesting bug will hit then

I can't believe how many people move house when they are PG, we did last time so can't talk. How was your 28wk scan is bubs still ahead on size?
I love the whole setting up the room thing. Not quite as exciting this time round as renting at the mo, so only room available is to share with DD, and with lack of storage space in house there are a few things in the room that need to go out before I can get baby things out of storage, which will be exciting. Bassinet needs to be set up in our room too.
Looked at old photos of us setting up DD's room and it was an empty room with a lot of bought stuff and some handcrafted stuff dumped in the middle of the floor until about 3wks prior, then it all came together beautifully. But do remember getting antsy as wanted to be prepared well before then but just didn't happen that way.
Hoping for boy in one respect cos wanted to try out all these design ideas/colours etc, but will wait and see. I'm a frustrated designer with no outlet at the mo!!! can't you tell. lol

i wouldn't be moving if i didn't have to my landlords sold their house and so are moving into my place - so at 31w4d I will be moving house - thankfully i have always been the one to help everyone else move so have had lots of helpers
and yes it will be a rental so can't do as much as I would like however have some beautiful things to put in her room that I have been given so that's all good
28wk scan was good - she was 3lb at that stage so they are expecting full term her to be about 10lb - personally I am hoping for something a little smaller, guess as long as she is happy and healthy I should complain!

No your'e right, something a little smaller would be nice but healthy is better. I was lucky last time, just under 7lbs, but life is like a box of choci's , so you never know this time.
We are lucky, got to paint the inside of our rental so stuck to neutral colours which is easy to work with, but its all in the accessories! I'm really thinking of colour themes blah blah blah in the bedding, pictures etc. Great ideas on Pottery Barn website in the states.

Hi girls
Got my NT scan results back, they were 1:300 so I am naturally a little bit worried. I am right on the border for my age (38). I dont want the amnio, I think that the risk of m/c is too high....plus I wouldn't terminate the pg anyway. My midwife is going to refer me to the Chch womens clinic so expecting a call from them. Hopefully as is ok... Guess I have some adjusting to do if not!

Hi BG, I have read about quite a few ladies over the last months who have a higher than wanted risk, and its all turned out for the good, but we can't help worrying, it's natural, but don't let it take over your joy of being pregnant the stats are easy to find on line and they all say the same thing that in almost all cases of a 'high risk' result the outcome turns out to be just fine. GL

Well went for the NT scan today only to be told bubs is a fraction too short still so I have to go back in a weeks time. I am not good with all the waiting.
Only good thing is I saw the heart beat (for all of 5 seconds) so I guess all is good. She never really checked anything.
|
Posted By: choco69
Date Posted: 05 August 2011 at 3:36pm
babygiraffe - i know how you feel my NT results came back 1:120 - the best thing i was told is that all the result means is that 1 baby out of 120 will have a trisonomy disorder (downs is only one kind), 119 other babies will be fine - i did have the amnio as i felt i wanted to know so i could mentally prepare - from the info/counselling i got prior to the test very few women in NZ will terminate no matter what the result, its more a fact of knowing and not worrying - that said the risk if an experienced person performs the test is 1:100
it is a hard decision to make for anyone - i know people who have been given a risk of 1:3 and 1:7 and both their babies were fine - in fact the OB who performed the test said that alot of the children currently born with downs are to mothers in their 20's where they have a risk of 1:10000 or so
as i said to my mother there is nothing i would have changed about my baby - she was created however she was created and there is nothing i could have done differently - all that i was looking for was knowledge so that i knew what i would need to do or have in place to give baby the best start possible
the decision on whether to have further tests done is entirely up to you - you can wait till after your anatomy scan as that will give you a better indication as they will have a much clearer view of her nasal bone etc to tell whether there might be something you need to prepare for
biggest hugs!

Thanks Choco, you comments mean a lot. I would never terminate, I am prepared for whatever outcome we get and this baby will be loved more than anything in this world. I am not sure I want the amnio though, I am worried about the risk of miscarriage and after being through 3....I couldn't face it again. Especially knowing I caused it!
So I'll just sit tight, see what the specialist says and go from there. My anatomy scan is in 3.5 weeks so that will be a good indiction for us as well
|
Posted By: choco69
Date Posted: 05 August 2011 at 6:32pm
then i would just wait and not let them pressure you - your results aren't that high risk so the anatomy scan should be able to give them a better indication
try not to worry sweetie - although as my mother tells me you never stop worrying about your babies

Well here is my news, we are having another little girl and all is healthy and happy. Have been feeling lots of little kicks this last week and half and yesterday actually saw them thru the layers of clothing, late for me cos placenta is in front. So thats cool cos it feels that much more real now. And feeling like a house some days, harder to bend down to pick something up and have felt a little sleepy during the day which not used to, didn't happen first time round. Must be to do with having a toddler to chase and gettin older, lol.
Choco not long to go, and don't worry about not feeling ready it will come, sometime around their 21st I'm guessing, lol. No really I actually didn't feel ready last time until I knew the nursery was up and ready to go, clothes and equipment were bought and bag packed, then I felt ready. Remember having a little "is this labour" scare which turned out to be nothing but got me really panicked because things weren't in place, so sorted that then when labour did start I felt a lot calmer. It's like clearing your desk at work before a holiday (yeah right!!).
Welcome back Happygal, tell us all about the trip, the food, the shopping, the sights. I live vicariously thru you, lol

Happygal - you don't know big till you hit the 3rd tri LOL, I remember saying to my mum when I was 20wks that I didn't think I could get bigger and she laughed, now I know why!
as for me - doing well baby is growing and growing, still has lots of room to move so changes position all the time, which can be rather uncomfortable - also very tired (partly due to sleep issues, and the rest is low iron still), belly is now measuring 40wks so she is pushing things out with 6 weeks to go (in theory) - OB recons anytime from 36wks will be good - so may only have 2 more wks till she gets here! setting up her room on Saturday and then will shop next week for those last minute things that I know I will feel are missing - and have to get the capsule installed in my car - so much to do and so little time left it has gone soooooo quickly!

Hey Choco, have you got those meals made for the freezer, lol. I read about it the first time and thought it was a great idea, some pre-made dinners for DH and me when we are both feeling exhausted after baby comes. But somehow only managed to make a lasagne. Well the theory was there anyhow.
Will try better this time round, but yay! will be BBQ & salad season soon.
Know what you mean about feeling big Happygal, but Choco's right, bubz is only going to get bigger! I complained to MW that I felt bigger, more heavier this time round but hadn't but on anymore weight than the last PG, so far. She said it was pretty normal to feel bigger 2nd time round. Oh joy!

Hi Everybody
I'm so glad to find you all. Don't you find almost all pregnancy 'stuff' is geared towards younger parents? Especially photographs. I was feeling much older than my 41 years as a result!
We have a two year old and the new baby is due April Fools Day. Both cloma babies.
Finding this pregnancy much more tiring. Last time I sneered at all the tips about daytime naps etc and didn't take any of the special leave preggy women can get. This time round can't get enough sleep - day or night! Could be due to working, wrangling a toddler and trying to fight off a bad cold. Could just be my age!
Also, with 2nd pregnancy - don't you thicken up around the waist fast? Actually losing weight due to morning sickness, but couldn't do up my jeans at 10 weeks.
Sorry about the random spill of thoughts but we decided to keep pregancy quiet until after the week 12 test results come in and it just isn't as much fun (or as real) if you can't talk about it.

Hi Jaydubb - welcome to the club
and it is hard not being able to talk about your pregnancy, especially in the first few months when everything is new and sooo tiring!
alot is geared towards younger parents - at my antenatal class I am the only over 40 (for both mums and dads) so much so that they were amazed this was my first baby
as for tiredness - not sure if its age but I have been tired since I conceived, however do have really low iron so that won't be helping

I'm still debating with myself about the tired thing. So like you JD, had boundless energy compared to this time and its got better 2nd tri, but only just. Surely a couple of years is not going to make that much different. I reckon its got to be the running around after a toddler thing. You just don't realise how much time is spent on it. It took me a few months to really give in to what my body was saying and just go with the flow now. If I get time and energy to go gardening for an hour I'm feeling good about that. I think you just have to change the goalposts really.
I found as soon as I got a ringbinder going with 'to do lists and shopping lists, etc etc I started to manage my time better and felt like at the end of the day that if I had ticked a few things of the list I was happier. Oh and I am trying harder to drink more water, which has helped me, and taking floradix iron, and spirulina tablets which also give me a boost. Sometimes you have to stop looking after everyone else and put yourself first.

I am totally exhauseted most day. Energy levels have picked up a little in the last few weeks but not by much.
I don't get to sleep during the day and at night I keep waking up for no apparent reason.
I am definitely finding it harder being older this time around. I don't have a toddler to chase after but 5 kids between 8 and 15 and working full time and renovating a house keep me busy. Still I wouldn't change it for anything. I can't wait till baby is here.

Its only been about 3wks for me since I started to feel proper movement. Placenta is in front of bubs so was harder to feel anything until she got bigger, which I reckon made it harder to bond. But now you can't stop her, which was similar to last PG and lets me know she is there, but not painful yet.

Hi ladies,
Wanting to ask you all advice.Im 39yrs will be 40 in 4wks time.currently 10wks pregnant with my 3rd child.
Im wanting to get the CVS test done to know for certain if theres downs...however ive talked to 2 medical people and they have said they have never been asked for that before the 12wk nuchal before?Im concerned that if my risk comes back high from the nuchal then the cvs can only be done till 13wks...so not alot of time from getting results to organising a cvs.No way i would want to wait till 15-18wks for an amnio.Has anyone here had the cvs?

hey Keira- I am only 2 years younger than you and my NT was really low. 1 in 27000. The way I looked at it, this is our last and there is a slight risk of miscarraige. I decided that I could live with down syndrome but not loosing the baby because of the CS. I believe the amnio is a tiny bit safer. This was just how I felt though. It is totally your choice and I can understand wanting to find out. It would be a hard wait but all good things in life are worth waiting for. Pregnancy has a way of teaching us to be patient.
Good luck with your decision.

Ditto what Cinders said. Sorry don't know a lot about CVS but if you really want to do it then book it when you book your nuchal, but book it at the earliest possible timing as it can take up to 10 days for results, unless somehow you could fast track it. Then book CVS for last possible timing and then when result are found out and you have talked to a few more people then make your mind up to take the test or cancel appmt. That way you have covered all bases.
I had DD at 39 just before my 40th birthday, and am now PG at 42, will be 43 when DD2 is born. I had NT with both and result were good odds. But have had friends younger with not so good odds that have also turned out fine too. If you read up on google its surprising how few births are downs and how many initial results beat the odds.
My personal opinion is it has a lot more to do with your health and wellbeing more so than your age.
But follow your heart and if you really feel the need to do it after researching it all then thats what you need to do

Thats one thing I would really love to do, but nothing like that around these parts. Bump really sticking out now, seems bigger than last time, but of course everything is pre-stretched .
Have had my mojo back in the last weeks, energywise, but have put that down to some new vitamins I have been taking and spiralina tablets too, which help with energy. Can't remember if I told you but we are having a little girl again so we have finally decided on a name that we both love. It sure helps to know as I don't need to buy any extras, but of course you just can't help yourself can you, its all so cute.

hi ladies - welcome Minx
am still in one piece - just - baby is growing and growing (having another scan before OB appt on Monday, will be 38w3d) - baby is doing lovely which is taking a large toll on my body, she is stripping me of everything she can
so at this stage my 'wee' girl will be here sooner rather than later - so not ready, trying to get things done however I keep falling asleep all the time, really think I need to make a concerted effort tomorrow and over the weekend in case the OB wants her earlier than I expect :)

Wow, I was talking to my brother (nurse) about how many scans the ladies in my Dec 2011 group are having, it seems to be a big thing here (NZ) having all these extra scans, most seem to be to check the size. I only ever had 2 with DD and have only had 2 with this littley, and I assume I won't need anymore. He did mention that ladies are having babies later hence maybe the more scans and I had to laugh and say that I'm pretty sure I'm the old bag in the group, lol.
Choco, don't stress too much just make sure your bag is packed and the rest will fall into place, all she will really need when she gets home is her mum and if she's lucky, (.)(.)

It's great to see some action in this group after such a quiet period. I too am having a girl and we will be giving birth at North Shore Hospital. After all the nervousness of waiting for test results and then waiting for anatomy scans it all seems like not much is happening. I am feeling some movements which is nice. Hope everyone is staying well.

yes am intending to deliver at North Shore
and the only thing I really must finish before baby arrives is my essay for uni - everything else can happen when it happens
millemama - and am sure I am the oldest first time mum around here at the moment - and yes have had lots of scans however it's all about the growth as she is getting lots bigger and i'm not gaining weight - although I did have extra on board before pregnancy - that said this is not my ideal weightloss regime!

Thats a hard one Choco, does sound like she's taking all your nourishment, its kinda like BF, very hard not to just eat and eat with BF as you get incredibly hungry, but its a matter of eating the right thing thats the key, I managed to maintain minimal weight gain whilst PG with DD, don't know how?, but when she was born and from then on started to put on a bit of weight that hadn't been able to shift until just b4 this little one was conceived. I find it hard to choose the good foods all the time, unless they are there, quick and available with an instant energy hit. Comfort food seems to always hit the spot! Make sure you have some good healthy snacks on hand for when she is born and vitamins too. Instant gratification is what its all about when BF, for them and us. lol

Happygal, that sounds a ridiculous reason to not go over. Sorry can't remember, how old are you? There is so much research out there that talks about unnecessary interference. Have read a good article re how wrong the due date can be, with a lot of women interviewed who knew exact date of conception but were told something different regardless, so in their workings out they were not over at all. Food for thought anyway.

Millemama - they told me right from the start that they won't want to let me go overdue - it's all about older first time mums and possible failure of the placenta - and no they won't induce, as they don't think baby will now fit into pelvis so without the pressure of baby engaging all it would do would possibly put me into labour with no dilation and progression and a need for a c-section anyways - feeling good about if i need a c-section then i need one - just want my wee girl to get here as safely as possible for both of us - and really do want to avoid a blood transfusion for me if at all possible as well

My first was an Em CS, and it was actually a wonderful experience with quick recovery, skin to skin, no probs BF and all that. I'm having an elective this time round so should be interesting to compare. I was 1mth off 40 first time and went 5 days over with no-one mentioning any prob with that, thats why I was surprised. I did birth in Oz so wonder if thats the diff.
I just feel that sometimes the medical profession push the older mum 'boat' out a bit far, and it really has more to do with general health etc than your physical age. I have had friends who have been told horrible things by Drs etc re her age, which is just not correct, whereas others are seemingly fine with it. My GP's wife just had their last one at 46, I was quite surprised. Sorry don't mean to rant or get on the bandwagon, just don't like being told certain things like that when I know its just not always the case. We had a wonderful OB in Oz and we came across a bloody horrible one that happened to be on call, 2 totally different approaches and opinions. Needless to say I kept my legs crossed until my Doc came on. lol

My Gp was always positive when I discussed the posibility of having another baby. I am 37 now. He was away one time and his locum (who I had met and thought was nice) advised me if you want one don't leave it any longer. I have to say I am finding it hard this time around compared to my older boys and I am not as old as some women having babies. I don't have the energy and everything seems so much harder. Also I am having problems with concentration etc at work. I guess it is what they call baby brain. Never had that before.
|

I must admit I find this pg harder than the first, but with only 3yrs difference in yrs I'm pretty sure its more to do with circumstances and having a toddler to run around after.
Guys, I have found a thread which was interesting re "induction at 38wks or not for older mum". It sites all sorts of experiences from different women, for a rounded view.

Baby update: well Miss Bliss is still growing away - at yesterday's scan they estimate she is 7lb13oz so guess she is still enjoying all the food I am serving to her :) being the budding diva that she is Miss Bliss has decided that it's no natural birth for her, she would like an audience of adoring fans, so she has decided not descend down the birth canal she would rather someone came and picked her up - so she is booked to depart her room via the sunroof on Tuesday 4th (unless she changes her mind in the meantime) ... so at least that gives me a week to finish getting organised for slavedom :)
did discuss induction with the OB however due to baby's reluctance to venture into the pelvis he believes that i would fail to progress and need a c-section anyways
so a week to go till I have my wee girl in my arms - exciting stuff!

All is good with me, this has been my best trimester, feeling good and lots of energy, and just found out the other wk had only put on 7.5 kgs, which I found really odd, cos feeling and looking bigger than with DD. Hi everyone, just checking in, got date yesterday for CS, 15th December, yay, just 5 days short of EDD. And I'm having her in Tauranga, not Waikato (bit of disaster there, saw OB there the other wk, but hated the ward, hospital etc, so antiquated so got changed to Tga. It works out better anyway cos Dad lives there and DH and DD can stay there and take 5mins to visit me instead of 1hr to Hamilton. With only 2wks to go still got lists running through my head of things to do, guess it doesn't help having Christmas up soon either. But what a cool present!
Hope everyone is fit and well.
Oh, another thing that was laughable bout Waikato OB visit. A large portion of visit was taken up by her "talk" about getting my tubes tied, seems a big issue, I guess cos of age (43). MW only asked me once and that was that, but even tho I was quite precise with my answer "thanks but no thanks" OB went on and on about it, then when the penny dropped I wasn't interested, she carried on about what sort of contraception I was going to use afterwards. I couldn't believe it, wanted to tell her where to stick it and that it was none of her business, lets just get this little puppy out first, but wow she was insistent, guessing again that it was age related and maybe she found it hard to believe that it wouldn't be a tragedy if I did fall PG again, even tho not planning on it. She would have been about 10yrs younger than me or more. I have not had any issues with either PG (first one at 39) compared to lots of ladies I know who are much younger. I wholeheartedly believe that its more health related than age related. But there you go, can't change everyones mind I guess. Had anyone else had any funny/annoying PG/age related stories this time?
