Has anyone given this to their toddler?

I think I'm going to book DD to have it next week. I didn't realise they had a baby version (for 6months plus) until I asked the nurse about it when I got mine today.

She is in daycare with kids from all over the place, including lots of kids who travel widely in July. So heaps of potential to catch nasties and last year she got swine flu which was awful in itself but was also the beginning of the endless ear troubles.

So, am I the only one?

Ella got the flu jab 2 years old (so would have been around 22mths)- because it was her first dose she had it in  2 doses. She was fine that winter, I think she may have got the flu but because of the jab only had a very mild dose (DH got the flu shortly after she got better which makes me think she had the flu).

Last year she never had it because I was so busy (with a newborn), but today both of us got the jab again. Decided not to do Tom as he isn't in daycare and I am hoping that because I am still b/f quite a bit that he will get a bit of immunity from me.

given her history I would seriously look at getting it done

I got my daughter done in March/April last year so she would have been about 16/17 months ish and I am so glad I did. I got the flu in July and was soooo incredibly sick I could hardly move and then my parents (who we were living with at the time) also got it. DD who had had the jab was completely protected and didn't get anything at all.

I got both of us done this year coz I am not going through that again. It was horrible being that sick and still having to get up and look after DD.

DS had his second dose two weeks ago. Our GP recommended he had it due to how sick he got last winter.

Hi Missy,

We just got the whole family done - mine was free cos i'm pregnant, and DD's and DH's were $21 each. I think it can vary a little bit place to place, but not hugely, I wouldn't think. I didn't think to ask whether I'd have to pay again for DD's second dose though!

It's subsidised for a range of conditions, but not grommets frustratingly - given swine flu was the start of all her problems anyway!

ours cost $25 per person.

T-Rex I think you normally have the pay for the 2nd dose as well.
