Hi all
So it doesn't appear my baby has adjusted to the end of daylight savings and was wondering if others have or are experiencing anything similar or can offer any advice?
My 14 month old DD has always been an early riser, around 6.30am but since daylight savings has ended she's been waking up between 5.00-5.45am every morning. Except this morning when it was 4.10am!! She wakes up quite wide-awake - we've tried putting her back to bed, nappy-change then back to bed, leaving her to talk and then cry for a bit but nothing seems to work and eventually we end up giving her a bottle of milk. She then will either go back to sleep for an hour but more often than not she'll protest and be up for "morning time".
So is there any hope of her sleeping later or do you think we have just a naturally early riser. I myself am a morning person so perhaps its in her genes? I've thought about changing her bedtime but its already 7.00pm and feel it would be a backwards step to make it any later. She generally naps twice during the day for between 40 mins - 1 hour each time.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Its only been three weeks so we're not that jaded yet but I can see the novelty wearing off soon!! :-)

This may sound strange but I would actually put her down 30minutes earlier. I had the same problem with my son last year and this fixed it. Don't ask me why, something about sleep cycles.

Thanx! I see Emmi is having a similar issue in another thread. I think I'll try putting her down 1/2 an hour earlier tonight and see what happens. Fingers crossed!!

I have just had this exact conversation with my girlfriends who are having their children wake early this week. Their ages range... we think it's either the cold snap we're having at the moment..or "the moon". LOL we can't figure it out either?

my 14 month old has actually started sleeping better instead of going to bed at 9pm he's going at 7 so maybe the earlier thing works..my older one is like your daughter though:( never had daylight savings issues before and hes been up 5ish for most of the time since..he did get chickenpox though so hoping he will get over it esp as its always me up and I'm knackered with still getting up to the 14 month old!! so no advice as nothing worked for us either... but hugs to you I know how it feels!

Maybe its time to move to one nap?
My DD (also 14 months) seems to have a quota of about 12-12.5 hrs sleep in a 24 hr period that she keeps to - if she sleeps more during the day then she sometimes has less at night - like wakes up early, or wakes during the night and takes 1-2 hrs to go back to sleep .
I guess all you can do is experiment
