Hi all
I am trying to hunt down a breatfeeding chair, it doesnt need to be specially for that, but comfortable enough :)
I have looked at the ones farmers sell, similar to the mocka ones and really didnt find them that comfortable and were too laid back
Ideally I would love an old fashioned wooden rocking chair but cant find anywhere they sells them new.
any one have any suggestions for me?
Thanks

Baby City sell http://www.babycity.co.nz/reclining-swivel-chair-with-ottoman.html - this one. I searched high and low for one as didn't have a spare $400 and ended up getting a 2nd hand one off Trademe. It's the same as http://www.trademe.co.nz/baby-gear/baby-room-furniture/tables-chairs/auction-361673773.htm - this one. It's fab, we still use it in Mr 22mths room for bedtime stories etc

I hated having a wooden rocking chair. It just wasnt comfortable.
I really recommend either a lazyboy or a comfy chair with a foot stool. I think the foot stool is the main thing i always wanted to rest my feet on, id get dead legs easily so with a foot stool i could stretch out etc.

Hmm I recommend a lazy boy or the ones from Baby City/Baby Factory (the black leathery ones). I tested the Mocka ones at the P&C show and wasn't that keen tbh, was a bit too low etc and for me I really wanted something that I could get out of easily whilst carrying DD and not having hands free. We actually ended up buying a couch (folds out as a bed) haha... It's great and will have the bonus of being able to be used when she's older for friends sleeping over or guests.

Also the wooden ones! Try the Sallies and other 2nd Hand/Op shops! Ring around and see if they can source one for you! I have seen a few over the last year at our Sallies, seems they get one every couple of months or so!

I have a lazy boy too. It's been an absolute lifesaver, especially when I end up sitting up most of the night with a sick baby. At least in the lazy boy you can be dozing and bub is nice and secure on your lap. And also when bub turns into a long, heavy toddler, she can stretch out over the nice soft arms of the chair when she feeds and it's still super comfy for both of us.

i got an arm chair like a lazyboy but much cheaper at big save. it has a foot rest, but doesn't recline - which worked for us because the nursery is so small there is no room to recline. I think it was about $300. Microfibre suede covering, so not posh, but we've thrown a wrap over it and it's fine.

I second Lil Nic on the Lazaboy, they rock well and are less likely to get a little one's hand or foot crushed under it. I got one at a secondhand store for $90! Is very comfy.

I honestly found sitting/lying on the couch or bed the best thing. DS woud kick anything with arms and end up unlatching all the time.

I have an office chair with arms - it swivels, rocks a bit and goes up and down! I found it perfect - especially cos it's on wheels, so I could scoot around the room while feeding (generally to reach something I had forgotten!)

I have one of the Mocka ones with the foot stool and have found it great, haven't found it too laid back, but I do put a cushion behind my back. I liked the price of them as well.

I looked at the ones at baby city and I am not impressed at the fabric of them. It is the type of fabric that is going to tear and rub really easy.
Just be warned if you buy one of these.
I am going to start testing out breastfeeding chairs later in pregnancy. I figure if I am comfortable in them when I am really fat, then they will be comfortable with a baby in my arms.

I agree re the mocka ones not being comfy, cuz I wanted one too!
We got a lazy boy style material one from teh warehouse, last i saw they were $199 on clearance, it has the perfect smooth rock, is cheap, material cleans well (cuz invariably gets the odd milk spill on it) and the arm rests are in a good position to get real comfy. highly recommend! I originally wante dleather for easy clean, but practically it would be cold in winter and sticky and sweaty in summer so happy with the material one now! is a brown kinda suade.
Baby city ones the fabric is abit gross and the second hand oens i have seen on trade me have rips so i don't think they are very hardy.

I've just bought a reclining chair with a foot stool (abit like the baby city one) off TM for $60! I think it'll be perfect and it looks nice too. Will let you know how I find it in a cple of wks . Lazyboy chairs look abit soft to me, abit like our sofas which are too hard to get out of.

I agree, I always wanted one so we found one when I was pg with Jack. It wasn't really that comfy.
This time I am going to try and find a lazy boy or something similar

Whatever it is you need to be able to get out smoothly - sucks to be sitting comfy having spent hours soothing a baby to sleep then having to jerk/shuffle/scootch your way to the edge of the couch to stand up as all the jiggling wakes them!
I got a purpose b/f chair for the record - it was brill for the first few weeks as it was set up with a table with water, pump etc but now we feed sitting up in bed at night or on the couch because like others said he kicks around. So my poor b/feeding chair sits neglected...

We bought two lazy-boy style chairs off TradeMe, and they're wonderful. I have one in the lounge, and one in his room. We got them as a suite with a two-seater for $300ish (the set cost $4000 new, so I thought we got a pretty good deal)

Since our spare room is becoming the new babies room we are putting a popup bed in there. This is so that we still have somewhere to put the grandparents when they come to stay and of course it'll be DD's bed when she's big enough. I'm buying plenty of cushions so I can sit comfortably and do night feeds.

I have one of those Warehouse lazyboy style recliners that rocks. I love it! Only complaint I have with it is the footrest it a right pain to put down while sitting in the chair so I don't actually use it.

well i went and had a lock yesterday at a bunch of furniture shops, i thought the ones that seem to be names "bucket chairs" to be rather comfy. dont rock or anything but still comfortable and since they dont rock are a bit smaller which is handy for the bedroom plus made me sitting upright enough that i could feed in it
