This is out of pure curiousity and I know there is a wide range,

But,
When did your child/ren start walking and how long before they moved onto running?

My daughter was a late walker at 17 months. But she went straight to running.

Now she is a runner & doesnt stop. I wish she would go back to crawling lol

Ella took her first step at 9M 1 W, was walking all over the place by 9.5months and running about a month later.

I'm a bit worried as so far Tom has meet all his milestones within 1 week of Ella and I really wanted him to stay my little baby for a while longer (although at the moment he seems to have different ideas)

Jake stood at 10 months and crawled a few days later (likes to do things his own way LOL) but then he got bored with trying to walk because he could crawl.

He got up and walked at 13 months and a week later he was running.. he has never really walked *sigh* I am in no hurry for Mr O to move on his own!

Roy walked at 15 months, and was about a month after that before he was confident to run.

G walked at 17 months but ran almost immediately. She does this really funny run with her arms out wide waving up and down (like that Friends episode where Rachel and Phoebe run like kids in the park) and its hilarious

B took his first steps 1 day shy of 18 months, and was able to run fairly soon after.

Jae took her first steps 1 week shy of 17 months, and 5 weeks later is quite happy to walk, but has mastered walking around and stepping over things much better than i have seen some early walkers do. Interestingly a friend who had a late and early walker said that her early walker had very little depth perception and was always walking off or into things (and even now as an adult is clumsy lol) but her late walker has always had really good hand/foot coordination...

I bum shuffled until 10.5 months and then stood for the first time - was walking by 11 and crawled after 12. Running about 12-13 mo. Am really curious to see what DD does as so far she's the same - no crawling and is trying so hard to stand for the last couple of weeks.

DP was a late walker but crawled, stood, walked...

Sorry, doesn't answer your Q exactly but thought I'd add my 2c worth!

ds1 walked at about 13 months but is still not much of a runner at 2.5 years. He can run but hardly does. Wouldn't have run for ages after learning to walk.

DS took his first steps at 9 months, walked properly at 9.5 months and was running by 10 months!

DD took her first steps at 11 months and walked just shy of her 1st birthday and was attempting to run at about 13 months, but she is pigeon toed so had trouble running, though she is MUCH better now at 16 months.

Campbell started walking a couple of weeks after his 1st birthday, and started running about a month later.

My boy was 'furniture walking' at 12 months, it wasn't until about 14/15 months he could walk across the middle of the room (which is what I'd call walking). Between those he'd take a couple of steps by himself.
Started running as soon as he could walk, but quickly gave it up due to the high rate of failure (i.e. injury). Took up running again about a month later.

The reason i asked is at 8mths (just!) my DD is pulling up and walking round any sort of furniture, and her balance is improving by leaps and bounds, however she has the sort of personality that as soon as she can walk she will try running so I was looking for some sort of time line, till I get some decent exercise lol.

My son is 10.5 months and started walking properly about 2wks ago, he took his 1st steps at around 9months though.

Your daughter sounds like she has no fear what so ever

I don't know if furniture walking is the best indication - Jake pulled up and furniture walked at 7 months (crawled at 6) and pushed toys along at 8 months but didn't walk til a couple of days after his first b'day. He ran a couple of weeks later.

Morgan was also furniture walking by 7 months (but crawled a bit later at 7.5 months), she walked at 10 months but not well (ie still crawled some times) til just after her b'day and didn't run for at least another month or so, around 13.5mths.

Sounds like Escadachic (sp) one of the Feb 10 mumma's lil girl! Not sure if she's walking by herself unaided yet but last time I saw them, 1 month ago, she used a wooden chair as a frame and pushed it round the floor at the mall walking!

BK, Jake has great depth perception and is very aware where things end etc only problem is he runs faster than his feet can handle and he trips on them, but not so often anymore So I think that might just be a personal attribute.

I will say that Jake was rocking on his hands and knees at 5 months but it took him another 5 to figure out how to go.... Likewise he stood at 10 months but it took him another 3 months to figure out how to walk. While he was running a week later he wasnt exactly coordinated, steady walk and running took about a month.

Jake does the Phoebe run, I hope he never grows out of it

Well she is starting to bridge gaps, ie taking steps only holding on by one hand, I'm not sure how far from that to walking is. But while she CAN crawl, she much prefers to "walk" everywhere.

Don't recall about running.

But Sophie my oldest, starting walking at 12 months and Annabelle took her first 2 steps at about 10 months and started walking about 6 steps at about 10 1/2 months and now, at 10 months, 3 wks and 6 days, she can walk a good 12+ steps continually throughout the day.

It seems now she's walking out this walking business, she's doing it heaps today. She just gets herself to standing and gets secure with her balance and then just walks.

Wow lots of early walkers! My DD didn't walk till 16 months, and started running a few months later. She walks so fast though that I can't keep up with her

I don't remember running ages, but 3 of my girls started walking at 11.5mos and the other one (the long and less co-ordinated) was 15mos.

Emily pulled herself up on the furniture early too about 8months and could balance beside with no hands not long after she also did the walking with trolley too. She started walking at 11 months and was running very soon after and has not stopped!
