My 16mth old, with very point limbs, climbs all over me and baby bump. I'm quite a large (very large) lass, so I don't really know where my blubber ends and baby starts (19wks) but I'm thinking it can't be good.
DS is also a squiggle bum, so most times when I pick him up he kicks me in the tummy. I don't mean vicious kicking, just like when he's crying because he's bumped his head and I pick him up he squiggles/kicks. When I'm holding him and another wee toddler friend runs past he gets all excited and squiggles/kicks.

Is that ok for the poor baby on the inside?

Is it dangerous or just annoying?

Oh gosh my son kicked me in the tummy all the time when I was pregnant with my daughter. They are pretty well padded in there!

My son was only 12/14 months when I was heavily pregnant, so he didnt understand that he couldnt do it, though I did use to say a firm NO!

I agree, baby is pretty well protected in there!! My little guy is pretty rough too. I'm sure it will be fine.

I think most second time mums have a similar worry - I know I did! The way I thought of it was that the uterus is a really thick muscle so that is protecting baby and then they have all the amniotic fluid to bounce off too!

I'd probably say it is more annoying than dangerous! My eldest is quite physical and used to climb all over me, it was a nightmare when he came into bed with us with legs and arms everywhere and J has turned out alright

LOL, I'd often sit DS on top of the bump - was the easiest way to carry him! His little brother will get his revenge in the future, i'm sure. Certainly didn't damage him.

This might help put your mind at ease a little bit.

I'm a large lass, too, and in the seven weeks before we discovered the wee one, I had a car crash that wrote off my car, and a four year old jumping on my tummy as a 'fun game'.

Yes, I did this too!
I wouldn't worry about it at all. The baby is pretty well protected in there.

If my first had done that when I was pregnant with my second I would have been worried, cos she was 6 then and bugger that , big 6 year old climbing on me, but my 2nd has been climbing all over my stomach, hes 17 months and I just find it more annoying than worrying ,as the others have said they are pretty well protected

lol Kelly!!

Jae treats me the same as the bean bag if I'm on the floor (rare occurence in itself given how much it hurts to get back up again!) just lunges forward knees first I think it really only hurts us, rather than the baby... so if you can handle the thumps and bumps that come with boisterous toddlers, baby will be fine
