I am with fiona mccrae, she works from the group at the palms. she is really lovely and I trust her completely. she was an registered nurse then became a midwife which makes me feel more secure in her medical knowledge and I also love how I can text her at anytime if I have a question.

Lexiloo - I've just been googling and have come across this great site - http://mamaternity.org.nz/find-a-midwife/. It gives a list of all the midwifes in the Manawatu area.

Jo Henwood was mine and she was awesome. Laid back but gets you everything you need and want(within reason lol). Very upfront which I like and always replied to any text I sent her really quickly

Blondie doesn't do first time Mum's either so keep that in mind.

Can definitely recommend Megan Holloway, but get in quick as she does book up very fast! She is a registered nurse (also ex-Plunket and ICU nurse) so very knowledgable but also caring and patient with a first timer like me!

Best thing to do is check out the midwife availability list on the mamaternity website above then do some ringing around.

GL and congrats!

There are many fantastic midwifes in Palmerston North but can I say that you really need to ask alot of questions and be sure that they have the time for a new patient. I had a midwife with a great rep but after 32 weeks I had only seen her twice and her locum the rest of the time. Not good for a first time mum. Not at all the midwifes fault but its your time so enjoy it with a supportive midwife!

Hi
I am looking for a midwife in Palmerston North. This is my first pregnancy and I would be under the category of mature. Am still a little shellshocked as I did not think children was on my agenda!!
Thanks

I am using Megan Holloway this time round and find her great. Explained things to me so much that I understand my pregnancy more this time than I did with my first.

The biggest thing is to be comfortable with who you choose.

Do you want someone who's older or younger?? Meaning would you feel comfortable with a younger person? I'm more mature this time around & am using a mw younger than me, it's a bit weird as before I've always had mw's who have been well older than me.
