Subject: A reasonable wake up time

My DH and I are have a friendly debate on what is a reasonable time to wake up.
Through bribery, we managed to get DS1 to stay in his bedroom until 6.30 (we have his alarm music come on at that time). DS was doing great for a little while, but has been waking up as early a 6 again, wanting to start the day.
Since I know he can play quietly in his room until 6.30, I feel 6.30 is a reasonable time. Because he's waking earlier, DH thinks 6 is a reasonable time.
Just interested to hear what you think is a reasonable time.
TIA

Hannah wakes anytime from 6am onwards, but pretty much stays in her room until she hears one of us get up.
DH's alarm goes of at 6:45, so that's usually her "up" time.
Anything before 6:30, to me, is unreasonable
*eta: YOu say DH thinks 6am is reasonable... but is he the one that gets up at 6am with your boy?

lol!
Anything past 6am is acceptable to me.
For DH I would imagine it's 7am.
But that's down to our personalities I think. I find it easier to get up with them then while DH would prefer to battle it out just so he can get another 10 minutes snooze.

Anything past 6am is reasonable in our house now cos DH gets up at 6.15am (used to be 7am with his old job, DS has reset his body clock too), there is absolutely no way he would play quietly as he can see into our room from his and once he's called out from the gate at his door, then shouted and laughed he then whines and whinges and then cries!!
On Sunday he had to start the day at 5am and man that SUCKED!!!

6am here, and its been a mission lately to get Isla to stay in bed til then. Shes always been an early riser no matter what time she goes to bed!

My kids have both been early risers at times, so I accept anything after 6am but definitely prefer it to be closer to 7am! Jake doesn't get up til about 7am these days and will wait in his room til we come and get him. Morgan is usually 6.30/6.45 these days but it can be anywhere from 6-7.30. I used to struggle to get her to sleep beyond 6 for a while.
I think the one who gets up to the kids gets to decide whats reasonable!!

DD gets up around 6am and comes into our bed and watches Disney Chanel until about 7-7:30 when we are ready to get up
She happily lays between us and DH and I go back to sleep!

Nik, both of mine wake around 6am - that is the earliest that we let Luke get up, earlier than that and it is back to bed!
I am gong to try the alarm music thing and see if I can get through to 6.30

Ethan is up between 6-7 but he is woken sometimes by his foghorn of a brother 'talking' lol .. and because i have to get up to him i dont really mind as long as it's after 6...mind you he still has 2-3 hour day sleep as well..
i would prefer 7 but realistically 6 is ok here, and while i dont like getting up then DH is 1000000 worse than me and is like Tishy's DH:)

7-7.30 is pretty normal here, and on my days where I don't work, I can usually stay in bed till 8.30 or so while Dan runs round, helps DH get dressed and lies in bed reading books.

Hmmm, my girl wakes up anywhere from 5.30 to 8.30am. I'm on my own, so if miss is awake super early she just comes and cuddles up with mummy and I let her watch TV in bed so I can wake up a bit. It doesn't worry me, as long as there is coffee, but I will not get up and make breakfast before 6am.

Ethan wakes between 6 and 7.30, if its closer to 6 and its the weekend we put him in bed with us and he usually goes back to sleep for a while, sometimes even for another hour!

7 is "morning" here. Most of the year it doesn't get light till then so it's always been C's natural wake time.
I will get up after 6.30 if C is definitely awake, but before that I consider night time DH is actually the one to get C up in the mornings as they have breakfast together before DH goes to work.
Both DH and I struggled on holiday recently as our nephews are early risers and would wake at 5.30-6 every morning Luckily C slept on oblivious but DH and I were wide awake!
I agree that the one getting up to the kids should get to chose their "acceptable" time

I would love 7am to be wakeup time (once upon a time it was!), but DS has decided its more fun to wake up anywhere between 5.30am and 6.30am. He's a bit young to try the alarm clock thing, but we usually battle with him until at least 6am before we let him get up.
I'm lucky that DH is also an early riser and has to get ready for work anyway, so he'll usually get DS dressed (I have to leave clothes out though!) and look after him til nearly 7.30am when he has to leave for work.

Anything after 7-7.30 is "up" time in this household. If Caden wakes before 7 then I often give him a bottle of milk and he will lay in bed and drink that then play until Isabella wakes up then we get up. She usually wakes between 7 and 7.30, very rarelybefore then.
Lately though Cadens been waking at 6am when the neighbours friggin rooster crows! It has been wandering round and always comes onto our property. Caden is scared of the crowing so he has a melt down and ends up in our bed, where he is like a fart in a bottle lol
