Hey girls,
Did anyone use a safety sleep?
How did you stop using it?
Kate always gets out of hers and then ends up waking because she hits the end of the cot.

I stopped using it at about 8 months. I just put dd into a sleeping bag instead. That still made her feel secure & stopped her moving to much.

I can't remember how old DS was but after a while he was doing a houdini so I knew it was time to stop using it. I then made his bed (sheets and blankets) no longer than his body so that he couldn't go too far underneath the covers plus I didn't tuck the sides in tight so he couldnt' get stuck in there.
(I'm paranoid due to cot death on both sides of our family).
DS was a wriggler! So I ended up getting a sleeping bag also and that worked well and kept him warm.

I think if they are at the stage of getting out of it, then its time to ditch it
How old is she?
I stopepd using our one for DD when she was 8 months, she kept rolling over in it and getting stuck, she was happier sleeping which ever way she wanted.

I would ditch it and get (1) a sleeping bag (because she will be moving around the cot and not necessarily staying under the blankets) and (2) bumpers for the bars of the cot. That saves her from waking up because she bangs her head on the bars of the cot.

We've just ditched ours a week ago, DD's 16 months old. I was too afraid she would get cold, she HATES sleep-sacks, but then she was getting herself out of it before sleeping every night anyway. So took it off to wash, and never replaced, she sleeps fine!
I bought her some thick polarfleece/cotton feetie pajama's, they don't breathe so not good for younger kids but she doesn't need any blankets with them.

Well done Squishysmum!
I have taken the safety sleep off already. She has a sleeping sack, and I've decided to put a pillow at the end of the bed. I know its not the best move but I want her to sleep without getting out of the stupid safety sleep.
