Please tell me I am not the only one with the toddler/preschooler who insists on changing their outfit several times a day. Honestly on some days it seems like every hr she disppears into her room and comes out wearing an entirely new outfit (right down to her knickers- "because they have to match my outfit mummy") It is driving me nuts and who knows what she is going to be like as a teenager
Is anyone else going through/gone through this and did this stage eventually stop or is it only going to get worse as she gets older. ------------- Mum to Ella (5) and Tom (2) |

We haven't, even if hes covered in mud he will still wanna wear the same clothes..
However, I've heard stories of DH's cousin who did that as a toddler and still does it now (shes 20ish) |

Yip my 2 year old is the same... she just LOVES clothes and you have to wear special clothes for dancing, playing, eating etc... she is really particular about the ones she likes as well... At night she always changes her PJs several times before she goes to sleep, or adds several layers of clothes over her pjs... drives me a little mental! ------------- mum to 3 lovely girls :D |

Yeah I think it's a girl thing and sorry but Ashleigh is still doing it now and she's almost 4  We have exactly the same thing with her room littered with clothes and knickers and I have no idea what's clean or not! She is also going through a "I don't want to wear a jumper/long pants" phase so keeps turning on the heatpump as she is cold but won't keep any warm clothes on
Luckily she hasn't done it at kindy - apart from needing to get changed if she is wet or really grubby. Possibly more a girl related thing, but Sam does something similar in that he is very picky about what he wants to wear because it has to match. Even his undies have to match!
And during meals, if even a tiny little blob of whatever gets on him he will demand to put clean clothes on immediately. Could it be a Gemini thing? |

good to know Ella isn't the only one, yut it doesn't sound like this stage is going on away in a hurry KH25- Ella is exactly the same in terms of not wanting to wear long sleeve tops. I had to remove most of her summer clothes from her wardrobe and hide them because she kept on wanting to wear a little singlet and a short skirt
Mamanee- same thing happens here if her clothes get a bit dirty/wet- I think she thinks it is a good excuse to change clothes. She has now even started saying her clothes are dirty even if they are clearly not.
I guess I should just be happy she is wearing clothes- much better than the stripping off clothes in public stage she went through last winter. ------------- Mum to Ella (5) and Tom (2) |

Ugh.... Keira is shocking! It really does drive me mental
She is almost 5 and I have totally given up stopping her... the only time I put my foot down is when she wants to go to the shop in just a t-shirt (no pants) in the middle of winter, crazy child! I do try to giver her one day, usually a day when I know we are home all day, where she can completely pick her outfit. In exchange for a day where I choose. She now knows her kindy clothes, although that means as soon as she gets home from kindy she has to change 
She creates so much washing, as soon as something gets a tiny bit dirty she changes and then carries on getting dirty. I usually do a quick sweep of her room at the end of the day looking for things I can save from the wash. Most of it she puts in the machine herself. I have tried so many things, taking away clothes, locking her drawers but in the end I figure its nots hurting her and I hope one day she will just get over it... or start doing her own washing. -------------

| Yep Isla is the same too- and I also have had to put all her summer clothes and shoes away, cos she would go in her room and change into singlet and skirt and insist on only wearing jandels out and not winter shoes, having a tanty every morning. Dayvare are good and now wont let her out side without her shoes and socks on,and its working- shes so proud when I pick her up and shoes me she still has her shoes/socks on! |

Yeah it doesn't stop. I told Alia this morning that she had to stand outside for 5 mins before she could go to school. Tiny summer dress on.
Clothes get changed all the time depending on what she is doing. Only thing I have put my foot down about is her ballet clothes & her new boots. They are to be worn by her & her alone other wise she'll lose them. I try to hide summer clothes in winter as well. I know she's figuring out her personality & I don't mind that it's one thing she can pretty much control totally in her life. She's got a very different dress sense

OK, so sounds like I need to prepare that this stage will go for a while.
A&C Mums- I think that's pretty much it, about her clothing being one of the only things she can totally control. I have to admit some her clothing combinations are a little bit strange as well, and I just have to laugh when I see her.....apparentely you CAN wear a dress and a skirt at the same time (silly mummy for not knowing that ------------- Mum to Ella (5) and Tom (2) |
