I dont really know where to put this but here goes.

Sorry if theres TMI

I lost my son at 21 weeks and since then I've had variable bleeding for 4 weeks (28 days) now. At 2 weeks it had slowed so much I thought it was about to stop, then it started up again.

It's done that to me again but this time I have some cramps. I was just wondering, could it be AF even though I've still been bleeding a bit, or should I be worried?

I would swear that I've had pms symptoms over the last few days and this afternoon the bleeding went from just a little bit to, "I think I had better change my pad."
It's not bright red, its an old blood colour, and it doesnt smell bad.

Could it be AF?

I have not been in your position so I am not sure but I didnt want to read and run... I am sure one of the other lovely ladies who have had a similiar experience will be able to help you out...

I do know that after my mc my bleeding was intermittant until I got my first AF (about 6 weeks later) and if I exerted my self I would get a heavier flow...

Hugs again hun.

After my bleeding stopped with Jared my first AF was hideous. It was about 3 times heavier than my normal AF. My doc said if I was ever worried about bleeding post Jared to just give them a call and then they could decide if it was anything to be concerned about.

Ok well I think on Monday I'll give my midwife a call and ask her.

I dont know whats happened today but the bleeding has up and left again. It gets annoying not knowing if it's actually stopped or not.

Hi there Lillithlix,
I miscarried at 16 weeks after having a missed miscarriage noted at my 12 week scan - I also bled for ~ 4 weeks post m/c and then as it was lessening got my AF on what would have been it's due date from m/c - lasted for a couple of days. Apparently this often occurs as your body considers m/c as AF so goes back into cycle.
So sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you and your family have lots of loving support

Hi Lillithlix,

After I lost my daughter at 20 weeks, I bled continuously for two weeks, then on and off. I hope this isn't the case for you, but a scan showed I had retained placenta, and I had to go in for a D&C. After that I stopped bleeding and my cycle came back about 6 weeks later. Big hugs.

I'm definately going to talk to my MW now, thanks queenbean.
The doc said the placenta looked complete when it came out, so I'm hoping thats not the case but better to be safe than sorry.

Hi.
I had a mc 4 weeks ago at 10 weeks. I ended up in hospital with huge blood loss but sent home the next day. Today I had to go for a scan as I am still bleeding lightly. I have now been told that I need a D&C.
I am so annoyed that everyone kept telling me everything was fine and normal when it so wasnt.
I would tell everyone to get checked if you are unsure of anything at all.

I bled for 3mths after my last m/c, didn't smell bad. I was told it was normal too. Stress & anemia got to me & I went to ob/gyn, he prescribed me provera for 12days, stopped bleeding, then when script finished bleeding started- it only lasted for 5 days & *tmi* contained bits of placenta etc, then it was all over. 6 wks later I ov'd & now I'm due Nov. Don't put up with any prolonged bleeding, please. The "retained products" can act like an IUD, making a bfp near impossible.
