DS 16months badly needs a haircut (his hair is past his shoulders lol) Can anyone recommend a good one? Preferably in West Auck?
I really don't want my sons hair being butchered :(

Also, how do they distract them and keep them still?

I use JustCuts at Glenfield Mall. They have a portable DVD player and a Wiggles cape. DS sits on my knee and watches the DVD, only time he moves is when the hairdressers arm is in the way of the TV! If they didnt have that, DS wouldnt stay still.

Is there a JustCuts out your way? Maybe you could call them and see if they have a DVD player too. Works a treat

There is an AWESOME one if you want to travel to the north shore, we went there as prior we had a screaming child for a hair cut.

Kids r Hair 41 Moore Street, Hillcrest, North Shore City 0627

Its in her house, but totally set up for a child, in front of a tele with movies galore to watch. She has toys for them to play with, a lollipop afterwards.

totally stressfree

Went to one at the mallr ecently (as he's better now with sitting still and not beign upset) and they BUTCHERED it..

I go to JustCuts or the other cheap one in Lynn Mall (by Memorial Drive). The other cheap one (which is opposite Shanton) has a grumpy rather large lady with a square bob who always drills you "will they sit still" but she does a great job, is really quick, and there are lots of buses outside to distract the kids. No DVDs or anything. $14.

We've been to Kids R Hair as well. Karen is absolutely fantastic!! There are heaps of toys - inside and out (fenced courtyard too) so other kiddies are entertained while the haircut is taking place. The child sit in a raised chair with a tray in front of them (kind of like a highchair) - they can colour, play with cars etc and watch their choice of movie or tv. Cost I think is $25, last time for us was just $15 for a trim/ tidy up.
