Since Clodagh's been standing and more recently walking (pushing a trolley), her appetite has gotten HUGE (for her).  I feel like I could just keep shovelling food in her gob and she'd take it...although of course there's lots of things she doesn't like (ie fruit) but loves veges and wholegrain bread and porridge, weetbix, cheese, yoghurt, etc etc. So her diet is pretty healthy and balanced.

I guess I'm wondering though do I just keep feeding her 3 meals and 2 snacks(and about 4 BF's) until she turns her head away or am I setting her up to be obese in later life?  I want her to stop eating when she's full and use food as fuel to be enjoyed and savoured, not shovelled in for any random reason.

Ok, I know she's not quite 11 months old lol but good habits start young! I also appreciate at this age its about handling food and enjoying it etc but just  for general long term,  I'd be interested to know what other Mama's do with their hungry wee babes?

JJ went through a stage like that, a couple of times actually, and it always coincided with a bit of a developmental or growth spurt. There would be days where he just seemed to have hollow legs and ate ate ate all the time. I just let him - I figured he knew what he needed. In fact I believe it's better to allow them to learn to listen to their own bodies rather than telling them when they should and shouldn't be eating - I think part of the 'obesity epidemic' is people not learning to listen to their own body signals.

Anyway with us it'd be like that for a week or two and then we'd have a week or two where by comparison he hardly ate anything. Still is like that and I've learned not to stress about it

I think I posted a question asking the same thing a few months ago - when DD was the same age!!! It seemed so strange that she would eat more than a 7 year old... I'll see if I can find it for you.
