Chelsea just stopped breastfeeding last week - last feed was 6 nights ago - offered it the next night and she looked at it like "What on earth is that thing?!?!" lol, and have offered several times since just in case it's a "nursing strike" (as things I've read say babies don't self-wean before 18months!) but she is just not interested at all so I'm taking it that she *has* self-weaned.
Anyway, my boobs are still rock hard, ouch! I am using the cabbage leaves in the bra (lol) and Milk-Stop spray. I did express 50ml from each boob 3 days ago as I just couldn't take the pain anymore, but nothing since. Just wondering how long it has taken for other people's milk to dry up and what you did to help it?
Thanks!

i've never had that problem.. but maybe just hand express a little off in the shower to take the pressure off.

hmm I didnt have that problem either(after Caden), but yeah like Deb said, try expressing some off in the shower.
If it still continues might pay to see the Dr for proper medication to stop your milk.

I am still waiting and it has been two weeks since his last feed. He dropped the morning and night feed slowly over the course of 3 weeks but I'm still a little sore.
Just keep express off small amounts. I can't express with my hand so I used the machine once just till the breast was comfortable again. I've heard it can take a while.

It took me nearly 2 weeks for the pain to ease. I would have 3 showers a day just to ease the pain a bit & express.
I was still leaking alot after 1 month, after 2 months i dried up completely.
That sucks that she self weaned

About 2 weeks here. Used the cabbage leaves a lot, all night and most of the day (when at home). Also expressed a bit in the shower.
eta, Jody was 13 months when she weaned too, I was quite relieved as she was becoming a brat to feed. Breastfeeding for this long is hard work and you should be very proud

You should be very proud of yourself for breastfeeding for so long!
Im still expressing for my almost 5 week old son as he didnt have a good suck reflex so im not going to let myself dry up for awhile
But it took my sister 2 weeks to dry up with her first and 3 weeks with her second as she breastfeed her for longer. she also used the spray!
I think everyones different for everone

Thanks for the replies everyone
LOVE the hot showers! And today only the left boob is very engorged and sore (I did hand express a bit this morning, might have to do it again but don't want to take off too much incase it keeps producing milk!) - the right boob is a lot softer at least. Hopefully it's a sign that it's starting to dry up!
And thanks for saying I did a good job hehe, you're all awesome
